Costumes --- a cure for everyone!!

Hello everyone and thank you for reading this, I'm new to the forums when it comes to posting, but I have been lurking around for months. Anyways I realize that I have a few simple suggestions for the game and I should try talking to people that play this game about it.

So as my first suggestion I would like to talk about costumes.

Now I know that SE is currently remaking this game and is focusing on big picture stuff like the battle system, dungeons, company's, and maybe even a revamp on the current zones. But i'm sure a few suggestions on little things that will make some players happy wont destroy the game.

Anyways, I think SE should implement a costume feature where when a player buys some armor/clothes they can lock it and it will always display on the avatar. You can switch armor, but your appearance will not change unless you unlock it. Not only will this satisfy the players who just run around with random matching armor for "the looks", but this will also satisfy the players who complain about those players. I for one wear whatever will benefit myself, though being a male human pugilist can be a little awkward (sublegar). Also, if you don't like the idea of locking a costume you can simply just not do it.

    Pros:

Role playing players can now wear whatever they want with no consequences

Maybe everyone will have their own look to their character.

Players who complain about others who wear random matching gear will become satisfied since they will no longer be "gimped"

    Cons:
Maybe some confusion on what class/job the player will be

People who choose to lock the costume will more than likely not look like their class unless they mix and match to look like it

Other than that I cant really think of that many cons, but since this is a forum >_>; i'm positive someone will knit pick my idea and tell me how its the worst idea they have ever heard in their life and how I should go die or something like that.

TL;DR: Players can now lock a piece of armor/clothes as appearance, but are still able to equip better armor and keep the locked armor/clothes appearance. Thus the end of players wearing gimpy armor just to make their avatar look good or match their style and add a personal touch to your avatar. This will also be optional.

    first fix the game >.>

would be fun, but i'd rather have gear that matters before gear that doesn't matter.

Won't get that from me. It's a nice feature to be able to 'reskin' your armor, especially when you're stuck wearing something that looks ridiculous but has fantastic stats. Lucky for us, FFXIV doesn't have a lot of fugly armor like that other MMO that makes you wear clown gear in Outlands and giant flaming shoulders the rest of the time. It might be a nice idea in the future, after they get some core issues sorted out.

This idea reminds me of Terraria's recent update for social equipment slots.

This could probably be better explained by watching this video.

My idea of it is for cosmetic stuff to have its own UI window, similar to the current equip screen. There shouldn't be cosmetic-specific clothing/armour in my opinion. Let's say you have a Harb equipped but you want to wear a cuirass. You would equip that cuirass under the 'cosmetics' window. So you would have the stats of the Harb but the appearance of a cuirass.

I don't see any cons for this however judging a player's rank/level/whatever can be misleading and requires you to lock on a player and click on 'check'. Or SE can start making low-rank gear that actually looks good. I don't want to be using a dagger with a shield at low levels - it just doesn't look nice to me.
