A couple of question from a newbie need help with clarifications.

If your class/job can use what drops you can select need, and you will roll against other people who have chosen need. Need will always win over greed, so if people choose need, then the greed people arent even counted pretty much. Pass is just pass, you dont roll on the item

What can someone do with greed equip they can't wear?

If it's pink gear, you can trade it in at your Grand Company for Grand Company seals (assuming your rank is high enough). Otherwise a lot of it can be sold on the Market Board, or else just spiritbound and then converted into materia I guess.

Actually, the more prevalent use of Greed is to lot on items for jobs you're not on currently. For example, I'm going through a dungeon on SCH, but a robe drops that would be great on my SMN. As it's not suited for SCH (Note: The ability to Need is based on if it suits your role, not just if you can wear it), I cannot Need on it. But I can still Greed on it.
