Would just end up being zergfests just like FATES.How would you feel about short time respawns (15-30min) instead of 4-8+ hours.
And ontop of that, getting claim only gives you a slightly higher drop percent, but all
parties participating can get a drop% too? As in you can still participate and even
be rewarded without having first claim! first claim jsut gets a small bonus
The key here is they need to limit who can engage and participate in an open world fight to make it meaningful for those that are involved.
people are asking for no competition, I'm trying to find a way to still allow competition, and let people
participate, you could just extend it to a certain number of parties laying first claim, but none after
that number has been reached.
There is infinitely many creative ways SE could address things like zerg fates. The first of which being a
large HP pool and moves that significant to watch for. The fates we ahve now are the simple of the simple
and more creative things can be added down the road.
They could add a marker that spawns every so often at the end a beastmen stronghold where only
24 people can enter, they could do the same with a force spawn so a premade ally could go at it too.
again, variety and ingenuity we need to take steps in the right directions rather than saying, its not
worth trying.

It just seems like people are describing faction leves over and over. I'll explain it for those who don't know how it worked.
Back then, the adventurers' guild was just distributing leves for factions that needed adventurers' help. There were of them: Azeyma's Shields, Brotherhood of the Broken Blade and Horn and Hand. They worked almost exactly like leves do now, and upon completion would award faction points for the faction of the leve.
Faction points could be traded for faction leves. Some were in a series, if you finished one you'd unlock the next. At level 50, there were many fun and diverse, sometimes difficult leves. Killing two NMs at different ends of a map in a short time, killing a huge magitek vanguard boss, etc. These dropped some pretty valuable gear (which together with pretty much all other once-useful gear has just been thrown into Dzemael coffers). They were completely open-world, challenging, fun and varied.
Sounds just like what so many are asking for.
Open World end game Hell Yes.
A event Similar VoidWatch but without the Horrible Proc system. Sky/Sea i say "No" because the amount time necessary for farm is insane.. for only 3 mins of "Fun".
A event Like VW would be fantastic.
VW was played in FFXI Non Stop for 1.5 years, in a game with less of 500k players. the shouts was filled "Quickly" 15 - 30 mins.
Square Enix policy the last years is. Lets play it safe and make content for big masses onry. Im Not surprised FFX/FFX-2 HD for ps3 is outselling Lighting Returns for a Big margin...
I think ARR can afford open world content for now. with a player base over 1.5 millons we can sustain this kind of content.
A content in the open world areas for 16 man.
With Stones rechargeable x6 every 24 hours.
With tiers Ilv 55, ilv 65, ilv 75, ilv85 , ilv 95.
This would add a lot of life to the Game.
Open world would be awesome. I don't like the fact that you always need 8 ppl or 24 ppl before you can join an instance. For example you can't enter with 23 CT eben tho that it owuld be totally possible to win it with lower numbers. It don't have to be an open world endgame in the classic style. It could be an Instance w/o any membernumber forcement. Like Sky... If you were a lot of ppl you could do Gods or Kirin. If you were just few ppl you could do some trigger farm. Not everyone likes the fact to be forced to play with totally unknown ppl ...
Is it just me who thinks that end-game NMs instanced the same way like treasure hunting would be hella confusing?
When I go hunting with my static I already gotta wait for the other party there to end or it will there me so many adds on screen that none knows what to hit.
Imagine that x10 or x20.
I would prefere no forced party structure instances.
We had something like this in 1.0
It was called faction leves
A normal leve give you points to a faction. if you have enough points with a faction you can buy a faction leve in the adventure guild.
Brotherhood of the Broken Blade and Azeyma's Shields give you leves for fighting with a endboss spawning at the end.
Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HzZdevIQIE
In the leves from Horn and Hands you need to find chests or picking up stuffs from the ground and sneak (or fight) through a group of aggro monsters (which are spawned from the leves or are just in the area). This leves can also be done with DoL and DoH.
The leve system can be very good for a open world content with no zerg fests. Everyone can watch, but the monsters are reserved to the party who started the leve.
Another good open-world content with restricted number of participants would be the old chocobo caravan, where only 8 can join a caravan and the next caravan start after the current caravan ended.
