i'm for Skirmish
Blue sea, beach, palms and a lot of boss monsters the party need to defeat. And as reward a ilevel 70 weapon (Giantsqall weapons) with 100% droprate (but which weapon drop would be random). If you can clear it with a speedrun 2 weapons would drop.

The treasure hunts are really starting to give me a taste of how much better the game would be if the game had more significant tasks that could be accomplished under a similar system. It's just far more immersive overall to get a group of people together then running over to a spot and fighting something than it is to push a few buttons then be teleported to some private room that is cut off from the rest of the server community.

Yea, I was leveling some of my lower level classes solo a while after 2.1 dropped and a group of decked-out lvl 50's ended up gathering around, used a treasure map and summoned a bigass monster to fight.
So, I ended up standing around giving them an audience because it looked flashy and interesting and it got me thinking. All they really need to do is add some open world content that attracts a group of players, but doesn't lend itself to outright zerging (FATES). Just seeing a group playing in the open world areas, that weren't then followed by 10 other groups standing on the same spot doing the same thing (FATES again) made the world feel more alive, without it being stupid and forced.
There's so much potential for rewarding group based open world content that it'd be almost unbelievable for the Devs to focus exclusively on instanced content and ignore the whole great big Eorzean wilderness that player so desperately want a reason to play in.

Bring it back please.
Would love more open world content in addition to the instances. This game has to many beautiful scenery's and epic backdrops to avoid taking a tour more than once through. I even think a map roughly the size of the starting zones outside of each main city for open enabled pvp maybe between clans or for groups of up to 16 to control a fort with a giant crystal for x amount of time or something while another tries to capture it.

We had something like this in 1.0
It was called faction leves
A normal leve give you points to a faction. if you have enough points with a faction you can buy a faction leve in the adventure guild.
Brotherhood of the Broken Blade and Azeyma's Shields give you leves for fighting with a endboss spawning at the end.
Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HzZdevIQIE
In the leves from Horn and Hands you need to find chests or picking up stuffs from the ground and sneak (or fight) through a group of aggro monsters (which are spawned from the leves or are just in the area). This leves can also be done with DoL and DoH.
The leve system can be very good for a open world content with no zerg fests. Everyone can watch, but the monsters are reserved to the party who started the leve.
Another good open-world content with restricted number of participants would be the old chocobo caravan, where only 8 can join a caravan and the next caravan start after the current caravan ended.

Also BCNM (you may hear that one) is burning circle notorious monster.... something like trials.
I would be up for some ZNM or anything that you would need a pop item for. But please please no time spawn mobs that you have to camp and fight other groups for a claim.
