I am on the Hero's and Allagan as BIS team. Because we stack crit everywhere else the Spell Speed on the vortex will not do much (if anything) for you.

I personally go Astral because I really like adding Vit, it helps a ton. Plus you can meld in a bunch of crit, although it takes a bit of cash. We sort of got shafted with healing jewelry, and even CT gear. It all seems to have Spell Speed and no crit.
I don't have the Allagan ring yet.
Heros ring is BiS but the other ring is up in the air.
If you need Vit then go with 8 vit melded Astral ring(preferably penta melded). If your good on VIT but need some PIE and some added healing that go with Allagan. Don't need either and just want better heals over time go with Vortex. All 3 are solid choices and offer something the other doesn't. Can't really go wrong with any of them.

Astral Ring w/ Crit+12, Vit+8, Pie+6
Vortex ring is trash. I would NEVER pick Spell speed over Piety.
firstly, all three will suffice and will give you some sort of benefit albeit not always the best benefit for your job!
as a SCH you can play around with each of the three rings depending on what you want to spec towards for a fight vit, pie, det, as for me imo the allagan ring is not good on a SCH, the last thing we need is pie, our highest valued secondary stats are Crit and Det, never pie.
Hero's + allagan : 26 mind/ 20 pie/ 16 crit/ 8 det
Hero's + Ruda: 26 mind/ 8 pie/ 16 crit/ 11 det/ 11 SS
in this setup I have to say the ruda ring is the better, think of it this way you are losing a some pie (which you don't even need) and gaining a whole new stat in spell speed, also not big on a sch but any help to faster heals is a good thing! Plus you are adding more determination which also help our heals, while at the same time getting a moderate pie boost from your hero's ring alone. tbh there is no coil acc as of 2.1 that I feel is better for a SCH if its not myth or EX primal then go with crafted a prioritize the spec you want!
as a healer our priority is to have better heals! the hero's and ruda combo would be the ideal choice to "have better heals"
I'm beginning to think the Allagan Ring is a figment of someone's imagination: my group hasn't seen it yet. I got the Vortex ring on my 2nd or 3rd Garuda Ex clear, though, so I'm using that for the foreseeable future.
The thing is, PIE is a primary stat, not a secondary. As such, it is it worth more, because it has a more direct effect on your overall stats. An extra 3 Determination will not even increase your heals by 1HP according to the formulas I've seen.

Your heals, no, but your fairy heals, yes.
Ratio is just not the same at all, people should be aware of this
yes pie is a main stat but it does not effect you overall stats aside from MP, fact is pie does not increase your healing at all (It increase's the amount of spells you can cast) and Det does, every little bit of hp healed can be the difference between a wipe and saving a player that's about to die! The secondary ring slot is meant to be a spec slot so that the player can choose what stats they wish to focus for a fight over another, as a SCH there is no fight atm that is so healing intensive as to push us to the brink of MP and necessitate us to spec towards pie. as for formula's most of them are wrong but what is certain about pie and det is: pie will increase max mp (and mp restoration in result) and det will increase healing potential.
no need to take a stat that doesn't boost healing at all as a healer over a stat that increase's healing by any amount, main or not.
