My gear: 391 PIE
Allagan Grimoire of Healing
Argute head/body/legs/feet
Royal Gloves (Allagan gloves don't exist)
Hero's belt/neck/ear/wrist/ring
Allagan ring

With this gear I have 898 Aetherflow (solo) and 89mp/tic regen in combat, 4490 max MP
Dropping the Allagan ring I have 879 Aetherflow and 87 mp/tic, 4399 max MP.

Assuming an approximately 5 minute fight (5 minutes of MP regen, 5 Aetherflows), dropping the 12 PIE from Allagan ring is a net loss of ~295 MP (possibly slightly more since I don't know if PIE party bonus improves MP regen, and it does improve Aetherflow slightly). Not a huge amount, almost 1 Adlo.

Aside: 243PIE naked, 673 Aetherflow, 63mp/tic, 3369 max MP

So would the vortex of healing be good enough until I manage to get enough myth pieces to do coil 4? Cause the main reason I wanted to pick fending was to cheese for the vit while still getting stats that are useful to me like Calya mentioned. Because I'm nowhere near doing turn 4 where the allagan ring drops for us and on my server the cost for the crafted ring + materia is about 150-200k gil, which is pretty steep for me since I just reached endgame not too long ago.

You're better off crafting the Astral/Rose Gold stuff if you need the VIT. Don't gimp your primary stat (MND) just to artificially raise your HP level.
