Unfortunately, Steam does not offer FFXIV:ARR (only VII, VII, and XI). You can currently load the game using Steam, but it didn't originate there. Where did you originally purchase the game?
Yes - you can play on both PC and PS3 using the same SE Service account. If you've purchased the game of PSN store there is no "registration code" - it's part of your purchase / download list. If you haven't played the ARR on your PS3 first you need to (re-)download it from your PSN download list and after the first run link your PSN account with your current Service Account you're using to play on with PC version. DO NOT (by mistake) create a new Service Account while linking your PS3 / PSN account to SE otherwise you'll be unable to play with the same character and using the same subscription as on PC. This asumes that you play currently on PC, have purchased in the past the PS3 version as well but haven't used it yet. In short - you need to purchase the copy of the game for each system and have both versions registered to the SAME SE Service Account.
Ok I originally bought the game on psn @Ardent and so all your sayin is that I have to just buy another copy of arr for my PC correct?
Yes. To play on both platforms, you need to buy two copies of the game, one for each. (There's still only the one monthly fee, though. At least the extra expense is one-time-only.)
Buy a Windows version of the game. Then go to the Mog Station website, log in with the account created on PS3, select "Account Services" and then, under your service account, select "Add Windows Service". That's where to enter the code you'll get with the Windows version.
Actually I've been playing on PS3 since official release, and just started playing on PC yesterday.
You will sign in on the PC version shortly after installation with the credentials you are already using on PS3 (SE ID and password), it will then prompt you to select if you want to use the existing service account or create a new one. You obviously want to use existing account if you want your characters to transfer.
It is not required to update the registration code through the Mog Station, it will do that automatically when you select to use existing account.
(you can confirm registration through Mog Station, it will have a "WIN" bubble and "PS3" bubble next to the account name)
Enjoy!
