EDIT: I've also farmed well over 3000 seals in a week, and that's with taking 2 days off hunting. If you have linkshells, plenty of time and a proper group, it's really not that difficult.

Serpent gear looks quite boring, Flame stuff looks nice too though. But i guess it's mostly ppl from Maelstrom, that go for gear, while Serpents go for sands/etc instead.
You can go look at hunter-scholars, in Gridanian camps, and you can see what Serpent gear looks like, and same for Ul'dah camps. They aren't wearing head-gear though.

Im not fond of the serpent armor (except the mage head, I want to get that and make some kind of forest witch outfit) but the weapons are all very pretty, especially the sword.

Or maybe it's just Maelstrom players not spending their seals on gear that matters?

I'm thinking too much blue and perhaps going with white for either the legs or the boots (so it will be white/gold, which should match the shirt)...
