    SMN and Garuda EM

    Hello fellow summoners,
Currently I am just wondering what you guys are doing for through the phases ? The one I find most problematic is the first wave of plumes/satin. I usually am refreshing dots on Garuda then use bane, my question is spamming Tri after okay? We get through it but I want to make sure I am doing the most I can to help. Any other tips for the fight would be helpful

I usually only go SMN (or BRD) to Garuda with farming parties and those are usually set at IL75 and thus everyone is overgeared. (I go as SCH any other time since that is what I consider my main). Honestly on plumes I refresh my dots on Garuda and Bane them to the plumes around here and keep SF on her. Other than that I just let the other DPS take care of it. I have never had a group with more than one SMN so.

For Garuda Extreme on the Satin phase, I refresh DoTs on Garuda, Bane to spread to nearby plumes... and then Blizzard II any groups of plumes. Of course, if no one else is focusing the Satin plume, you will want to be focusing on that. Nothing is more annoying than getting slept. The reason I prefer Blizzard II is because it is a faster cast and more damage than Tri-Disaster. The added bind effect from Tri-Disaster does not help here, as they will stop moving where they want to anyway. Unfortunately, you will need to be 'near' the plumes to use Blizzard II. In vortex phase, I refresh DoTs on Garuda, Contagion if it's up, and then wait for Plumes to gather and use Blizzard II to kill them. I won't spread DoTs in this phase JUST in case the Spiny decides to behave oddly. If you do accidentally spread DoTs to the Spiny, you will cause your party to wipe.

Thanks for the responses, I feel so dumb always thought Blizzard II was useless on SMN. Our groups usually do fine I was wanted to see if there was a way to make it smoother

Refresh dots and bane on Garuda to spread dots
Aim Garuda-egi at group of plumes have her AoE and and focus them down while personally making sure satin dies (if there's a group around Satin, might dot it up and spread via bane)
but yeah typically no problem. Don't recommend using tri or blizzard II. The mobs aren't close enough for either of them to be worth the speed or mana cost.

I ignore the plumes. We just collapse to group up the plumes and holy or flare them down. There's no point for me to waste my time on them.

In the first plume phase before vortex our effectiveness in AoE'ing them down is all dependent on how they decide to move. Sometimes the formation is in our favor, others we just have to focus the satin.

However, in the vortex phase, we shine pretty well here. If your group is doing it properly, your OT pulls the spiny plume away from Garuda as far back as he can, and your DPS and healers all stack directly behind her which causes most, if not all the razor plumes to bunch up behind her as well. Your OT should have pulled the plume safely away from AoE range, and then you can safely Bane from Garuda to the plumes/aerial slash/shadowflare etc. If you start with shadowflare it'll run out by the time the MT has to pull the spiny off the OT so you won't accidentally kill it that way.

Same. God, I hate killing those things... I just ask my blm friend to flare them down ! Judging by his screams on Mumble, he seems to enjoy it

Yeah I know since I play in french but... everyone seems to use "plume" here instead of feather. I thought "plume" in english was a word you could used to talk about Titan's "weigh of the land" or Ifrit's one.

    So confusing ~_~
