    Thoughts on Future Classes/Jobs

    Don't dismiss it right away. Please read fully and have an open mind please.

    I had an idea of a Disciple of Magic tank. Maybe a Spellsword type of class. It could be an okay idea. If they did it right, that would be a class/job I would be more than willing to try.

    I was thinking you could have a spell that enchants the user and his/her weapon raising HP. This spell could be similar to Defiance by reducing Intelligence. Attacking could draw off of intelligence. It could generate AoE aggro with defensive self shields in addition to basic attacks and rotations. Maybe a Circle of Scorn style spell. Brief defensive cool downs to reduce damage taken at a pacification cost.

    Maybe make it a Thaumaturge job, so it could draw Fire and Blizzard for more damaging spells. It could have different versions of the Defiance type spell to be like Monks fist forms. Fire enchant for more damage, Earth for higher HP, and Wind for more spell speed.

    Just an idea. What are your thoughts? Any other ideas for any other classes?

    If it were based off the Thaumaturge then it would be forced to use the Thaumaturge's weapons. While I want more DoM, kinda don't see a Spell Sword as a DoM. I see it as a DoW with a DoM as the sub class to unlock it similar to the Paladin.

    I'd like a RDM or BLU to come in as tanks, Physically speaking, these are the two strongest Mage types with BLU being better both offensively and Defensively. RDM has always had an advantage over BLU through resource in spells being opened to majority of BLM and WHM's spell repertoire while the BLU is restricted to Monster Spells. I can see RDM as Tank mostly because of its ability to wear heavy armor and BLU because of natural bulk. Though both would require new classes to appear as well to complement the new jobs.

    I agree, a mage take option if done right could be a lot of fun. And I agree with XanderOlivieri, a red or blue mage could be used as just that a spell sword. I think a red mage would have more options, and could use en spells which raise their def etc. Could be fun, I'd give it a shot.

    Regardless of what party role was needed. I think having a Red Mage, blue mage, time mage, and any other mage, along with other physical classes would be a huge boost. Looking forward to when we can start seeing new classes in the game.

    The idea of creating a class that could add elemental damage to DPS seems appropriate, considering the implementation of more primals. This could increase the viability of other classes (sadly, I could see it nerfing some in obscure ways) and also allow for a game that actually relies on elemental resistance.

    It seems like, although the current system has it, there is no reason to increase resistance outside of PvP (which given the random composition of teams and skills would be a crapshoot). This would also allow for multiple gear sets at lower and upper levels, since you would have to strategically work to defeat primals, understanding their elemental strengths and exploiting them, rather than just avoid silly instakill aoe attacks.

    I'd be super excited if they implemented the classes (and corresponding jobs!) that were "kind of" in 1.0 first. Arcanist was a good start, even if they completely reworked the class. Stuff from the data files included guild marks (and in some cases, actual guilds that were in the game but empty) for the classes:

    * Fencer (piercing damage DoW)
    * Enforcer (blunt damage, club-wielding DoW)
    * Musketeer (piercing damage ranged DoW)

    * Arcanist (DoM, was supposed to use mechanical staves, and have magical traps and other contraptions, sounded a bit like GEO from FFXI. Used magic of the astral elements, similar to old CNJ)
    * Mystic (DoM, was supposed to use magic of the umbral elements, similar to old THM)

    * Shepherd (DoL whose guild I THINK existed in the Falcon's Nest but was unused).

    Even if most of them weren't actually ever announced, they all seem like they could turn out to be pretty exciting, especially with jobs added on top of them.

    The job I'm most looking forward to is the IT. It fixes and maintains servers to reduce lag/crashes/errors. SE please make this happen.

    Next to useless in this kinda set up. All they do is buff but majority of the extra support buff spells are through Conjurer and passable to other classes.

    Based on images shown, I don't see a few of those working with the way the Armory system works. DRK would end up Sword and Shield shadow version of a PLD. BLU would use a fencing Rapier like a Red Mage and I find the Saber to be much more fitting.
