I use a PS3 and I can honestly say any mistakes made are simply user error. I hate when players make the excuse "well I'm on a ps3". And I know you weren't complaining about that I just wanted to state my opinion on the matter.

Regarding your question, I feel ps3 adds no additional stress to the fight, and if you're constantly being hit by things it might boil down to your internet provider itself, or learn and practice to dodge better. Unfortunately for ps3 users we cannot participate in programs such as ping zappers that typically help out PC users. But since the release of 2.1 and the correction of character mapping, I can say it is much easier to dodge plumes than ever before.
