Actually I like this idea. I never have enough money for frivolous things so with this I can get a picture of my character without destroying my entertainment budget for the month.
Also the artist/s doing this aren't destroying the economy or annoying people in the process.
And it's miles better than selling titan, extreme, and coil runs.

I like this concept. It's not likely to cause the sort of problems that RMTs generate.
Edit: And it's pretty easy to justify in an RP sense if you treat the in-game characters as if they were the artist and patron instead of the players.

Vanity items only available from crafting would probably help when it rolls out.
Like it as you may, it's against the TOS. You can't trade in game gil for any real life items. You can't even have your friend buy you a cheeseburger for gil.
