Because people don't want to inconvenience themselves constantly when they're playing games for FUN. This isn't 2002 anymore, the MMO market is huge and a lot of people play. The method of exchanging with others shouldn't be so inconvenient that it divides people like this, it should be an afterthought. I doubt there are many people playing wow who go "Damn, I hate the auction house system! I wish we had a system instead where I have to search through countless static NPCs trying to find what I need, that's much more fun than any other feature of the game."
Right because every other MMO out there struggles with corrupt auction houses, to the point where people don't want an auction system. Those economies sure are destroyed, right?
Who cares if timed bidding is ignored? It's where you make the most money and if people actually want to invest time to see returns, that's an excellent way to do it for the 20% that use it. Right now 98% of the MMO community ignore FFXIV, does that mean it should be dropped?
Also, the market wards are not fast. Not in the slightest.
Renshi, are you being sarcastic? It's not really coming across well and you're usually pretty switched on here.
UI based market. Say it with me guys. It doesn't matter if it's called an Auction House or a Market Ward or whatever as long as I can open a window, sort items, buy/sell them, and not have to put up with any retainer bullshit. Stop trying to get technical because we all know what the real problem isThis, so much this. Seriously I don't understand why people are anti-AH at all. The Market wards don't actually add anything to the game, and there's no way in hell new players are going to want to trawl through all that shit just to buy a new hat. That's not the way MMOs go in this day and age, because it's not about time sinks as much as it's about having fun, remember? When market wards are grossly inconvenient to me, yes I believe it is fair to demand an AH. Those "special" players who are willing to pay a monthly fee to grind crafts/harvesting can use their imagination on an AH window just like they would talking to a bunch of mannequins standing silently still in a tiny room. To me, there's no adventure in them desperately trying to build a game after it's been released. I just want to enjoy myself and the market wards are just one of many obstacles preventing that.
I really wish people would stop referring to the MW system as 'challenging' in any way. It's not, and don't think you're superior to the people wanting an Auction House because you believe you have greater mental dexterity, purely because you enjoy menu-surfing for hours.
