Peoples thoughts on pets

I was thinking about this and I am curious how others feel about it aswell.

I am sure everyone can agree that FF, even square of its self has accumulated so much story over the last 25years.
I like to take screenshots and Pets make a unique addition, thinking about a little bahumat flying next to me. Shiva any esper would be cool, maybe a little bomb or something.
In any MMO ive played that has pets there was like an underground black market just for pets,
so its always very popular.
I decided to write this to see what people's thoughts are on it pos and neg feedback.

Another good thing about this is, you can make quest chains to get unique pets that display a more involved player.
Oh wow he has a little dalamud(meteor) floating around him how do you get that!
Sorry friend you would of had to survive the 7th umbral era to get that one. lol...

you can do unique things with pets that can really define your character.

Please if anyone has some thoughts on it let me know.

Pet make the game lag and consumes resources. HOpefully SE with throw in an option to ignore and make pets invisible because I wouldn't want (undergroud) pet on my screen if I don't need/want to see them.

Now two more of my sense. If pets with actually serve a function, classes like tamer and arcanist should be the only way to have pets in battle or *gathering if adventurers are willing to level the class, then get a job like beastmaster or Summoner. I really look forward to this so I can start another character to practice spells!

I have to agree with the guy above. I couldn't care less about purely cosmetic pets, and I don't want every class to come prepackaged with a battle-ready pet (like Torchlight).

Ya well i was thinking more along the lines as a mer trophy or an achievement some people tend to like that aspect of a game.
I understand thats why i was asking it really dont matter that much to me but it is kinda cool to be on a mount and have a dragon fly next to you.
I dont really think of the lag issue never seemed to be an issue in other mmos either.
