Why is this even a problem? Just catch a map first, then you can safely go after your big fish.

So give us skills that use our usless gathering points.Greetings,
The development team realizes that since fishers do not have any skills that boost the rate in which you can catch HQ fish, it can be a shame to catch one and use Mooch only to fish up a treasure map instead. As such, the team is currently working to make a fix for this in patch 2.2.
I always get a map quickly with streamer at parata's peace.
Something seems seriously wrong with this picture. This is your only concern with the FSH class? Accidental treasure map mooching? Who even cares about mooch in any of the water locations where maps can be fished, almost every fish in the game is useless and serves no purpose.Greetings,

You know, much like our GP that can't do anything at all because we have nothing to spend it on. I implore your developers to get a clue.
I always just use Parata's Peace to grab my map for the day before I do any other fishing. Nothing's going to aggro me and I can stand right in the water so I know I'm in the right spot. Always fish up a map within the first five casts using a rainbow spoon lure. If you catch some trash before it, just sell to the vendor in Vesper Bay and then scoot right on along to wherever else you plan to hit for the day.
