Fish for maps - results?

So far I've been getting leather, goatskin and toadskin often.
Haven't gotten a single Boarskin or Peisteskin map from the areas they are supposed to be available from. x:

What kind of bait do you use to get them?

I use Streamer at North Shroud Ixali Logging Grounds (Lake Tahtotl). Always get peisteskin within 10 catches. Don't know about boarskin though since I use BTN or MIN for those (I swear it's always boarskin or toadskin for BTN/MIN).

Since Fishers do not get to pick and choose their catch, Fishing has specific types of maps assigned to specific fishing holes. If you always go to the same hole, you will always get the same type of map. I believe these were detailed in the 2.1 patch notes.

The patch notes, edited for just fishing:

Timeworn Leather Map: Level 40 fishing holes.
Timeworn Goatskin Map: Level 45 fishing holes.
Timeworn Toadskin Map: Level 50 fishing holes (South Umbral Isles and Rathefrost only)
Timeworn Boarskin Map: Level 50 fishing holes (Reaver Hide and the Tangle only)
Timeworn Peisteskin Map: Level 50 fishing holes (Lake Tahtotl, Parata's Peace, and the North Shards only).

As far as bait, just use the bait that works at that fishing hole; the map can replace any catch randomly, even a mooch.

I've had the same thing happen. The 'you're at north shards' area is pretty small before reverting to a different fishing spot. Generally be as close to the middle area as you can. Pretty much every other time I've always gotten the map I expected from the fishing spot I visited.

Singing Shards is level 45, so it's gonna get you a goat map. To hit north shards you need to be in stealth by the two ogres.

The development team realizes that since fishers do not have any skills that boost the rate in which you can catch HQ fish, it can be a shame to catch one and use Mooch only to fish up a treasure map instead. As such, the team is currently working to make a fix for this in patch 2.2.

can you make fishers able to equip a soul crystal to become anglers? We need to get stronger to fish Leviathan up next patch.

I have to agree. No problem catching any maps at all, and I've been doing it every day since we got the ability to catch maps.
