How many people do they think will fit in a small house? xD
100 members donating 80K might cover this, but where in the world are 100 people going to put things in THE smallest house xD

There are singular people who have many times the needed amount for that. This really isnt that big of a deal. Any FC's out there who have been actively working towards this as a goal and didnt expect it to be handed to them or sitting just fine.
I know my fc wont see a house ever at these prices...we all go to colleges and work part or full time as well, I think myself I get an avg of 10 hours of game time every 2 weeks
so ya..this isn't for the casual people by any means...I get that its to reward those who have the time...but cutting out a segment of people who enjoy the game but have real lives really puts a sour taste in my mouth
We knew we wouldn't get the "castle" but we cant even try to throw down for the small for at least 4 weeks of it just sitting on the market and even than, that's an iffy situation.
I totally get that some things shouldn't be able to be "rewarded" for casual gamers, but cutting out basic content like housing to that segment is bad business.
edit: On a side note I suppose this will force many of us to concede to the fact of maybe not having our close knit family fcs anymore (mine is the same group of people ive known for like 10 years in real life and gaming)

@PureEclipse
The content isn't cut out, just go make money, it isn't that hard. Now, if you don't want to put in the effort to get it, that's a different story, because housing wasn't cut out for people who can't play as much.
Also, in 90 days, it's going to cost 3.6 mil. If you can't get it at that point, I have no sympathy for yee.
Lots of new gil sources coming in 2.1; I'd wait for a month and see how much easier earning money will be after patch before doom n' glooming.
Worst case scenario, wait til Personal Housing and hope it's a lot cheaper. =P
I think the FC i am in may have enough but wow why so much?
I thought it first started under i million, then it was 5 million now is it truly 8 million?
@PureEclipse,
I very much agree with some of your points
I switched server to play with a fellow co-worker and just am in the process of forming a fc
so will be nowhere near that amount of gil
They're trying to even out the economy after the huge inflation from the release. Think in terms of wow, that one mount that was always a ridiculous price at the release of a expansion, then get way cheaper by the end. They need a way to pull gil out of the economy to prevent inflation for those that start later on in the game that can't raise 5 mil by the time they hit 50 and be behind in terms of money.
Emmm lots of new gil sources
lets count them
1 private message from Asdfga Asda goto somechinesesite*com some random amount of real world money for 100k gil and put in code for a 15% bonus
2 private message from Qwerty Ytrewq goto someHongKongsite*com some random amount of real world money for 100k gil and put in code for a 15% bonus
etc
etc
etc
FC gets nice shiny large House
2 days later loses said house due to RMT that got filtered thru the market on ** crafted items
DOH
Well I don't know I have never been in an MMO before that kept basic community features like housing on a more elitist scale, every mmo ive played since 99 that offered housing was affordable in some way, to me this is a true boggle...I understand its for the FREE COMPANY, but grinding gil doesn't seem to be a worthy challenge in my book of fun, more like outright boring.
Games are meant for entertainment...somewhere along the way I think people lost focus of that.
Pure did you play Asheron's Call? Best housing system of any MMO imo. I was hoping XIV was going to replicate it ;(
