    Tanking CT

I just hit 50 with my warrior got the first armor and got lucky in dropping ifrit's axe from 2nd run but here's my problem.

Yesterday i did my first run on CT ( i didnt have any experience on tanking there) i informed my party about it and yet no one explained on what i should do so i screwed up on behemoth by aggroing the boss unwillingly ( it was more like ninja-pull cuz i lagged and gone straight to the boss lol ) and got flamed by the whole alliance. No one really cared to tell me from my party what to do in this boss just "take a tower" nor they did in the previous ones so i was more than useless.

But here's my question, it seems like ALL tanks should make research on the raids/dungeons after 50 otherwise wipe is sure? Also, regarding CT every monday all robots gather for their items and don't give a damn about explaining the instance?

P.S: Anyone experienced lag issues on CT?

Well to be honest if you fly into anything "blind" you should expect to wipe when going up against content you KNOW is going to be different, or difficult. I'm not saying that your lack of research was at fault, nor am I saying that your a bad tank for not adapting. If you had stated that you were new I believe someone in the party should have informed you about what you should be doing, or what not to do. As far as Ninja pulling King Behemoth... well lag will be lag and flamers will be flamers.

I can't speak on the behalf of other players, "robots", but I would just chalk it up to getting into a lousy group that wasn't willing to take 15 min out of their grind to help a new tank. It's sad but it happens.

and yes, I have experienced lag while in Crystal Tower, but with 24 People in a single instance that's bound to happen, in my opinion.

Hope this helps. Keep the faith.

Its not needed to research every single raid/dungeon before actualy doing it. But you should realise that if people need to explain it to 1 person. The other 23 people will be forced to wait for you. Some people dont realy care that much, but you always have those that will moan for the slightest inconvenience. Personaly, i dont care if someone is new, but with the current way people run CT i do think you should atleast read a guide before attemting it. Especialy if you're a tank.

About the other lvl 50 dungeons. If you use the duty finder and tell them at the start that you are new. Some people will actualy leave. DO NOT be discouraged by it. If you do find it anoying, either read a guide or just do the dungeon with friends/fc.

Cant say much about lag issues.

    First.

I think it is important to at least watch a video of the encounters prior to attempting to tank. A video isn't going to really give you all the info but it'll at least make you familiar with what people are doing. Normally, tanks are a vital role in boss encounters so it's important that we know what we're doing.

In regards to CT, yeah we're really not that important. Geared DPS could do our job for the most part.

But, even if you didn't and said "Guys i'm new can you help me with what i'm supposed to do" then they really should have. Don't be afraid to ask if someone has mumble or vent or some voice chat system that you can log into. Much easier to explain over voice chat then typing.

And overall, don't get discouraged. It took me 1-2 times to get comfortable in there and I'm still learning some of the random mechanics that go on. You'll never pick it all up first try.

Not much to know as a tank. What usually goes on is this:

Beginning trash : Group A is usually left, B middle, C on the right. Progress through the sets of trash. Two tanks keep the anatoba looking mobs facing away from the groups while the other tanks grab the elementals. Second trash wave is much the same. A tank from each group grabs the bigger demon looking thing while the other tanks try to grab the imps. Final trash phase is grabbin the Eyes and the Succubi.

Bone dragon : One tank tries to main tank while at least one (or more) attempt to steal emnity. Other tanks fight each other for the skeleton mobs causing them to die precariously close to the boss or near each other. What should happen is one tank on the dragon facing him away from every one else. The other tanks should drag skeletons towards the back of each platform column (ideally one skeleton per column or at have at least one square's worth of seperation). Off tanks grab the eye minions when they spawn.

Atomos Mini Boss : Group A left, B middle, C to the right. Depends on the group...sometimes if dps is high I'll grab all the trash Atmos summons while the other tank helps "dps" Atomos. If dps is low, tanks will rotate on trash spawns. Just be mindful you'll need to drag the trash within range of where your other group members are standing the circle platform.

Thanatos : Tanks fight each other for Thanatos. Sometimes they'll grab the succubui' attention.

Bomb/Gargoyle Mini Boss : A tank from each group grabs a gargoyle and more or less tanks them where they stand until forced to move by AoE. The other tanks try to grab bombs/napalm adds and "dps".

Behemoth : Hopefully by now the tanks are done fighting each other. One tanks behemoth, one tanks the iron giants, the other tanks click on lightning towers. Behemoth tank still needs to hide behind a comet when metor is summoned like everyone else. The iron giant tank needs to be some what quick picking him up. The lightning tower tanks just need to keep clicking the tower and hope they don't fall asleep.

Bacon Weave Boss : Tanks like to fight each other for emnity here (nothing else to do). Each tanks the iron giants that are in the circle of power (for lack of better words on my part). There's little to fight but flashy AoE moves by the boss. Watch for iron hands to spawn. That's an indication you need to run to your circle of power. Kill the hand, be ready for the iron giant that spawns...then back to the boss.

Since you've already experienced it once, it'd be helpful just to watch that. Shows off the mechanics of each of the pulls/fights.

For 50 dungeons/raids/bosses/etc, you'll want to be the one who knows how everything works. People will always expect the tank to lead the group, so you have to know where you're going. If something is completely new (IE day 1 Pharos Sirius) you'll obviously have to go in yourself and find out the mechanics on your own, but otherwise it helps to watch a video and find out the jist of it before heading knee deep inside.

Also, if you haven't experienced bad tanks yourself, then prepare to see a bunch of them when grinding out CT. Apparently every other tank just LOVES the Provoke button.

CT is easy enough as a new player. Zone in, follow instructions, easy peasy. It's not that bad, with 5 other tanks in there you won't have to do that much.

Just don't plan on tanking much. I'm sure there will be some "i90 tanks" in DL with one Allagan item, probably the chest, who would love to provoke everything off of your so they can tail swipe the raid. Lol...

Crystal Tower has become pretty bad as far as explanations go (no one takes the time to give them anymore), so I still try to give as much explanation as possible before we get to the boss,as we're fighting the adds before or during looting.

The fights really are easy though, so looking up a strat to give you an idea of what's going on and then doing it in game should solidify your understanding of the fights.

Having said that though, I have yet to wipe on a fight where I took 10-20 seconds to go over the basics, but have wiped several times on "run and gun" type runs.

Don't be afraid to speak up and ask for a quick explanation, most people would rather take ~20 seconds to do a quick explanation than deal with a possible wipe.

should do a lil research b4 u do anything if available, its been out for 4 weeks now, bound to be videos.
i was in it on day 1 with a full alliance that only some ppl knew bone drg strat so it made it fun trying to figure it out
i dont get any lag in CT tho, i noticed some tanks that are trying to pull adds might be getting it cause i was brd for brd body this week and was just watching the adds sit for a good 4-5s with no act from the tanks (bone drg for instance), i started pulling them to spots as brd
happens at giants too, running around another 4-5s destroying our comets b4 i see some act from the tank put on it, i cant pull these tho.. just dodge its cleave as it runs around lol

war is fun in CT tho, i play it as a hybrid DPS swapping vit and str accessories depending
everything up to bone drg i can str tank, then when we get to pulling skeles/eyes or if im mt swap to my vit
last nite my friend was pld for his tank body drop so he solo'd pulled everything at atomos and i went dps again with the 2 mnks we picked up in df
back to vit for the pot fight since i was picking up maids and mt when we had ghost buff
back to str for demon fight, let pld mt and i called out balloons/napalms
vit for kb since i was tanking giants, keep vit on for tower switch too just for higher hp
and str for final boss since we had a allagan body war wanting to mt everything lol

Tanking CT isn't that bad. Like Krazyrs, I've been doing it since day 1(with lots of wipes and figuring stuff out). The only part that I find tanks mess up on aside from the Skeletons and the Bone Dragon is on King Behemoth and the Iron Giants. Most main tanks keep Behemoth at the 12 o'clock position and then the offtank usually drags the first iron giant off to one of the other sides. The problem here is that while holding Behemoth at 12 prevents him from breaking towers and comets, dragging the first Iron Giant off the 12 o clock position usually results in a bunch of comets being damaged or destroyed. Typically, when I'm at Behemoth, I usually get the main tank to hold Behemoth at the 9 o'clock position which is still a safe zone and then tank the Iron Giants in place where they spawn at 12, 3 and 6 o'clock positions for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd spawns.
