My FC bought a large mansion in Grid. We decorated it with the 200 limit, using "big" pieces to fill in certain areas. It *still* looks pretty spacious and barren. We did not go partition or bookcase crazy. Please don't say 200 is enough. It is not. I don't think even 300 is enough.

A group of friends and I bought a medium house (in an alt FC).. The house is very detailed, but I can see it needing more than 150 if we're allowed to put anything in the incoming 2.2 airship/ship building area. Medium's furniture limit is the one I'm least worried about though.

I bought a 'personal' small house (yet another alt FC). With the floorspace being doubled + basement being put in + airship/ship crafting area, we'll definitely need more than 50 furniture....

I sort of resent all the comments that parties should suffer because they are not professional interior designers. When the live producer letter introduced the large housing for the first time, SE did not even use the 200 limit to decorate and show it off, they went blatantly over and above it. If SE could not even make it look visually interesting enough for such a thing given the limit players are imposed with, then something more is wrong rather than players just having poor taste.

Please keep in mind the house isn't just merely a house. It is a depository of all the trophies your FC has earned together in a unique, visual, and public display. If a group is proud that the defeated Garuda and were able to produce a vortex couch, they should be allowed to proudly flaunt that in their space. Regardless of someone else's opinion that it is ugly, mismatched, or a waste of their budget.
The concern grows more with the expectation that such trophies are going to continue to increase in number as the small object allowance remains, making it even more difficult to form rooms around trophies and unique furnishings. It already is rather difficult with the current limit to decide how to do this. As it is now, we have to make a decision between showing off something your FC is particularly proud of (trophy) or putting in a piece of furnishing to actually tie the room together to look like a legitimate dwelling. That's just a difficult position that players are being forced into that results in the entire point of the guild house being lost in both senses.

Honestly though, very few players are going to have the eye or talent of placing objects in the sense that it looks like something out of a magazine. But they should not have to. This is also not personal housing, it is supposed to cater to a large group of players all reflecting their personalities and contributions. Simply because one group's house may appear sloppy, cluttered, or misatched to an outside body, does not mean that that FC isn't perfectly happy and proud about how they have decorated and they should be allowed to do so as it is their space that they worked hard to purchase. Stating that the object limitation should remain so low because you didn't personally like how some people utilized their space is completely missing the point in my opinion.

Sorry for the rant, I just had to get that off my chest. Thank you.

I spent six years building sg/vg bases back in City of Heroes, four years working on various small to large content affairs for Neverwinter Nights player-hosted mods as well as several texture packs and area beautifications for Oblivion and Skyrim alike, and I'd like to tell anyone on this thread that presuming a playerbase to lack in creativity when it comes to building such things as environments...is threatening Webster's definition of the word 'wrong'.

Players and player-formed communities, given access to the resources and means, will often embarrass a game's own developers in terms of what they come up with to create. Need proof? I welcome you to go look at the backlog of community-made content for games such as Neverwinter Nights, Neverwinter Nights 2, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, the old Baldur's Gate series, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

If SE has any interest in doing housing properly, they'll pull these hideous and stupid limitations away and make it reasonably easy for players to get involved, get invested and get creative.

If they don't like success and aspire to mediocrity, they don't need to change much.

A system is not made good by its potential; amazing potentials are wasted, unrecognized and unutilized everywhere every single day. Potential is a measure for nothing. It is the superfluous 'might have been' when taking what is and is not to account. It does nothing; it means nothing unless acted upon and the time to act upon it is always now. Not tomorrow, not 'Soon™' - Now.

TL;DR - Do it right or don't bother.

I assume PS3 is the reason.

I understand money needs to be made but sticking an MMO of this scale and type on a system with like 450~ megs of total ram available to games is asking for trouble.

Yeah please raise the limitations. We got a medium House and are down to 20 Items and the upper floor is pretty empty

Raise limitation please. Just let PS3 or low end PC users lose a couple FPS if the house have too much items rather than making everyone suffer.

I have spent a lot of hours working on my company's medium plot and have been working around the 150 limit for awhile. It is a shame to have to consider which items to cull or which decorations or details aren't necessary in order to add other things in. We have two finely, beautifully decorated rooms and the basement is as bear as the Empire's conscience. Considering large plots are easily three times the size of our medium and only allow fifty more items, I have nothing but overwhelming sympathy for anyone trying to decorate them.

Some people have worked magic with their small houses, showing what a high allotment of items can do in a confined space. With a higher limit this level of creativity will be visible in the bigger plots as well; and it would be wonderful to see just how amazing some people will make their houses with a much higher item limit. How about 300 for medium and 500 or 600 for large? Twice the allocation for medium and three times as much for large for a house that is three times the size.

And I planned on making the most beautiful, bushy, woody garden Eorzea had ever seen until I saw how few items I could place in our garden! I want to overlap multiple bushes and trees for a really lush, dense effect but found myself having to spread them out just so the garden didn't resemble an empty football pitch.

As a member of an FC that recently got a L house in Lavender Beds, I support this also. 200 items really isn't enough to decorate a large house to its potential.

Also with a large house 200/200 and still looks empty. Please raise this limit!
