[11006][20641][20643] Doing a fresh install off FF14, and recieve this message, CONSTANTLY. I have looked at all the posts, tried everything. I have deleted old patch folders. everything. I am shocked at the callus disregard given to the OP's by your "moderators" they do nothing to fix the issues that paying customers have, instead waiting for no one to post on the before copy/pasting a canned "we consider this issue resolved" bull response. No, you've done nothing to help, you've not done YOUR jobs. What can Square-Enix do for it's CUSTOMERS, seeing as how it's blatantly a programming issue, to fix this issue?

Okay, major update. First off, if this works, I apologize for being severe and bordering on rude, because if this works all the way, which it seems to be doing, I was wrong. Highly wrong, in what little defense I can have, I've been at this for about 2 hours, and the forums came up with nothing except things that users have generated, with no input from moderators other then what I mentioned, so I was fairly seething when I wrote the above, it just didn't help that Moderators couldn't be bothered with no more then a canned response. Now to the meat. I deleted everything, and then went to re-download the launcher again, but then I thought to look in the support section for the downloader, I originally googled it and came up with a hit on the forums, which was more then likely an old version of the downloader that caused the issue....following the instructions on the lodestone support page, I downloaded what I believe was the current launcher and it is now three times as far as where it was with the old version with no error message. In parting, if I don't post again, it worked, but hey, how's about you guys put a clear and obvious link to download the game instead of hiding it away to where we think we need to google it....? please?

first off, this is a user to user forum and not a forum for requesting support directly from SE--you do that in either the bug reporting section (for bugs only though), or their support portal.

They actually have a link for downloading the installer at the portal... but it's shuffled off like 5 pages in or something if you don't search on the proper words for it. It is actually the one used for Beta4, as that was meant to basically be the final release (although, they did have to do some last minute patching at official launch). It will install the game and then update when you try to get in for the first time. It works... I've used it 3 times since Beta4, just used it to install on a clean Win8 install on my old XP box.

And here are the magic words to search on at the support portal:
(note you don't have to go all the way to the portal, it works also if you go to the FAQ under Help & Support in the Lodestone as well)

Sorry for the sarcasm... couldn't resist. But those are actually the words I used to get a hit for the FAQ article that takes you to the download site.
Don't even have to include "client", you can just search the one word "download" and get a link to it:

(from NA portal, should get a similar link if you search the EU portal)

For an EU download link, just change the region code at the end:

They really do need to provide a more direct link to it though, preferably off the main XIV site or at least the lodestone or something.

Thanks man, it worked eventually, it just sucks that it worked "under the grace of god" and not because it was fixed at all.
