Based on the OP's definition of Massive then there hasn't been a proper massive online RPG since EverQuest when you could take a hundred people into a raid. Every other MMO has had party size limitations in the low double-digits.

And the reason why they don't have larger dungeon parties is because it becomes awkward as all hell to design an encounter to actually challenge that many people. When you have no limit to your group size you can steam-roll just about everything without any degree of difficulty.

Yep I did mention that FATES are the only MMO part of this game . Some people actually enjoy camping just like some people like fishing .

How is this an MMO ?
Yeah, SE is mostly riding on the fact that theres nothing else that fits the more 'traditional' MMO mechanics (hotbars, etc.). ESO is coming out n stuff, but and thats fantasy/medievalish stuff, but everything seems more action-RPGish. So.. until someone challenges SE and forces them to work for their money, were stuck w/ gorgeous looking, nonfunctional slop.

the thing is, the vast majority does .not. enjoy these things

I have fond memories of camping these things for hours, yes. you know why? because I did it with friends or got to know nice people.
now guess what? I do things with friends or meet nice people in ARR, too! the things that I do I have fun with because I am always quite the 'chatterbox'. granted I also annoy quite a handful, but in general I hope I'm a 'tolerable' player people like to spend time with. no matter if I'm camping some ridiculous spawn - or if I do a dungeon 10 times a day.

So basically you want more open world encounters with hundreds of players fighting the same thing, all the while you won't remember any of their names and probably won't even talk to them aside from begging for a heal/raise, screaming at them for doing something stupid, or being screamed at for being stupid.

    Sounds legit.

Sounds like my first time taking on Svara. I freaked out cause I never seen that many people in one Fate before and almost didn't know what to do with so much going on. It was fun in a way, but way too overwhelming. I have absolutely no issue with small party instances. Much easier to keep track of things.

I wasn't aware that you had to have 64 players battling a monster for it to be called an MMO.

Well technically Battlefield isn't an MMO , I used that as an example of a game which isn't an MMO which has more players in it and that is a First person shooter which relies on twitch reflexes .

Probably the best way to meet people in the game was these camps , the DutyFinder 15-25 min runs with players you never see again or even if you wanted to they are on another server is counter productive to trying to build a reputation as a good player.

Most obvious troll post ever. 2/10 just because you ended up getting responses.
