Unless you are doing FATES , this isn't an MMO .
Battlefield 3/4 on PC had 64 players in a server .
This has 24 max and mostly its 4-8 players .
How is this an MMO ?

It just means that there are a large number of people playing the same game, not necessarily the same activity in that game. Not really that difficult of a concept. @.@
There's more than 64 players on the realms. Just because they don't choose to be in the same place as you doesn't make it less 'massive'. I'd say there's probably more than 100 people in the cities crafting/waiting for duties to pop.
How did you get that '24 max' number for your server? Did you select all languages and not just English? And that doesn't include those currently 'in another world' (ala, an instance, which moves them temporarily to an instance server). Also given the fact the search function can only list a maximum 200 results, the search isn't even that accurate to begin with.
Also are you playing during a server's 'quiet time'? People have other lives outside the game you know, and thus it leads to periods of peak activity followed by a sudden lull in player logins for a time, before picking up again. And you lost all credibility mentioning Battlefield, which isn't even an MMORPG. FFXIV is a MMORPG however, and the game's population is definitely healthy, despite the doomsayers (who I suspect a lot are actually in the employ of Blizzard).

Yes I understand that. But they are more like lobbys.
So if they have the potential to display 100+ people in one place , why not make more OPEN world dungeons or bosses to take full advantage of it ? MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE BATTLES .
Open world bosses? You mean kinda like...FATEs? =p
'people don't play the game like I want them to. this game is not what it claims to be!!'
edit: y'know, you could reroll on balmung or ragnarok (or sargatanas) and then whine about queues!

Well FATES kind of do that, well potentially. the developers seem to be slowly introducing stuff so I bet we'll get a proper world boss this year somehow. The only problem with world events is that they are uncoordinated. Other games that have world bosses you usually have multiple raids taunting the boss and then wiping everyone.
Massively Multiplayer Online game = MMO. last I checked this this game met the criteria... WTF you on about trollboy
odin , behemoth.......u know what happens when this fates pop
what happens when open world dungeons are empty and every pop is tagged by another party? no loot , and camping for hours , trying to claim something .....oh yeah that exist is called FFXI
remember camping this? i dont miss it
