    Class choice?

So i recently started playing and decided to go conjurer as i imagine I will have an easy time finding groups. Are healers in short supply making grouping easy? This isn't my only motivation as I like being in charge of keeping teammates up.
One thing worries me though, how is soloing as a healer? Will kill X amount quests be a grind for me throughout the game as my damage is low?
I guess what I am asking is will my progression be slow when soloing as a healer since killing mobs is slower than dps classes?
    Any input is appreciated.

Dont think you'll have a problem. My main is dps and i found some kill x amount quests hard because i had no healing spells, just potions and they suck.
Then I made cnj and its so much easier. You may not be able to hit for as much but you can heal yourself as much as you want.

CNJ/WHM actually solos extremely well. With Cleric Stance you can boost your damage. And the ability to cure yourself can keep you on your feet when other classes might get killed.

Actually, healers have the easiest time soloing stuff IMHO, mainly because they can properly heal themselves without restrictions. Basically, for soloing content, dps are usually the trickiest because they are squishy and can't heal themselves, and need the proper strategies to quickly decimate enemies.

Healers queue very quickly for content sub-level-30. After that there's a drop in fast queuing, where for tanks, it's the other way around. A lot of low-level tanks, but there are far less tanks for over-level-30 content so they always get instant queues, while healers sometimes have to wait. Quite a bit.

Dps have the longest queue times, something which you can however easily circumvent by joining a helpful FC or LS who is willing to jump in and complete content with you.

I'd suggest going with whatever you enjoy playing the most. :]

There's always ACN and its SMN/SCH fork down the road if you wanted to consider another flavor of healing.

    1. The number of Lv.50 classes/jobs you have says nothing about your skill.
    2. FATEs are responsible for the majority of Lv.50 "derps".
    3. Don't blame a healer if you died in red zones; that was all on you.
    4. As a healer, healing is your top priority; DPSing comes second.
    5. As a tank, your healer can only keep you alive for so long; avoid red zones, too.
    6. As a DPS, you're partially responsible for hate management, too.
    7. Don't belittle newbs for their lack of skill or knowledge; you were one of them once.

Healers can actually DPS quite well using Cleric's Stance... not as well as a pure DPS, but they can make a significant contribution. This comes in handy not just for soloing monsters, but also in parties you can change stances and throw out a few DoTs and spells... IF you have a moment to do so. If you ever DPS instead of heal when you're not sure the tank will survive the next 3 seconds, you have shamed the honor of the healer family and must commit sudoku.

I went the CNJ route and haven't regretted it at all.

If you're soloing, you can always bring out your choco companion for some extra DPS as well!

I don't know if you meant to say sudoku, but I had to comment and tell you that you had me in tears, laughing! Oh man, just the thought of "death by number puzzle."

Seppuku is the ritual suicide by disembowelment!

    To the OP:

Like the others have stated above, it is a fairly common misconception that the CNJ doesn't have decent DPS. With their Cleric Stance and their particular abilities, you actually don't get hit much unless you're fighting multiple enemies.. and even then, you can put those to sleep a little later on in your levels.

If you are just wanting to play a healer (since both solo well, we'll take this out of consideration), consider HOW you want to heal. Would you prefer to prevent damage or to simply heal damage? Both classes are relatively equal in the beginning as an Arcanist and a Conjuror, though the group heal (Medica) is awesome in that you get it early. In terms of WHM and SCH, though, you either directly heal damage or you prevent damage (both grp heal and single target is this way).
