i used utorrent after i googled howand i got 500-600kB/sec download. it took like 4-5 min or so then it was all done.
The SE client was at 20 kB max started at 400 then went down to 20, a long time 0, then again 10 or 7 kB.... stupid.
Why does SE just use other peoples software solutions, it starts with the worst torrent client EVER and it ends with one of the worst optimized ENGINE EVER lmao... If i tell this to my friends they think im joking... but im not... sadly
I don't know why I even said that lol, more leechers wouldn't be good for this crap patcher. But yeah I dl patches via utorrent too.i used utorrent after i googled howand i got 500-600kB/sec download. it took like 4-5 min or so then it was all done.

At least we have a choice. Imagine if PS3 version uses the same patcher. They wouldn't be able to play other games for hours or maybe even days.
SE, let me tell you what. Blizzard is doing a lot better job than you on their patcher.
The idea is their patcher lets us download their patches a few days in advance. So when the server reset, everyone has their new patches ready to be installed and no-players have to wait.
If you guys agree, please give me a like.

You can even download Blizzard's updates while playing the game lol unlike XIV's paranoid "You have XIV already open!"

I think Viion is saying exactly what you're saying
I don't mind the way FFXIV updates - where you can't run program while its being updated, that part I can understand/don't mind, got used to from other software + FFXI updates. What I don't get is why we have to download the whole 1.17 patch with the small mini patches attached rather than just the mini patches... They need tech that knows how to make installers/updaters...

Exactly. Blizzard's patcher allows for both pre-downloading and letting you log in before it's finished.

In the upcoming expansion World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, the launcher will be updated to "stream" installation and patch data. The new launcher is broken up into three stages of download progress:
The Updater and Downloader have been integrated closely into the Launcher, resulting in less application switching when patching and installing.
- SETUP (RED): Core game, or 5% of content, is being prepared. You cannot enter the game at this time.
- AVAILABLE (YELLOW): Base game, or 70% of content, is not completely applied. You can play, but your game experience will not be ideal. You should ideally have 1 MB/sec or better when choosing to play.
- PLAYABLE (GREEN): Extended, or 25% of content, is almost complete. You may begin playing at this stage with few game issues. You should ideally have 1 MB/sec or better when choosing to play.

I'm still downloading the patch myself. But in the UK (on BT) my net gets throttled during the day and evening. After midnight the download speed jumps up to around 150kb/s (still not great but at least its quicker than 2kb/s...)
I'm dead tired but I had to stay up to patch D:

This everyone doing it at the same time was SUCH BS. . You have proved ignorance in networking, its not a bad thing!, so why can't you except defeat and realize there are people in this world who are naive like you.. and who might of gone to school for this type of stuff or actually read up on it and are more knowledgeable then you in that subject matter. It just really baffles me that you can't do this Kilta. You just keep driving your point home like you can't lost, that ridiculous. Learn to lose sometimes, this forum should be used to spread useful information, try doing that next time. Refrain from spreading ignorance and people won't treat you like a joke.
