Same problem of slow download here, however, I launched just before going to work so it should be done by the time I get back home.
In any case, there is a problem and it's not only due to users (us). Moreover, sorry Kilta, but one should not have to wait 2days to be able to downlaod a 300mb patch in a reasonnable amount of time. Please look into it SE.

I often rage a bit whenever there is a big patch/update - it is a painful process for me. Even doing it through uTorrent I was experiencing nearly the same effect. So what I end up doing is just waiting until the next morning hoping there are less people I have to compete/take turns with in obtaining the data.

Yes SE - please fix this - I find most of my aggravation, more often than not, comes from this. If it was meant to be innovative, this is innovatively horrid.

If you're not having Remote Connections try to do this:

The ports you need to open are 54992-55551 TCP/UDP and port 443 UDP open.

and bring FFXIV in the exceptions of your Firewall.

Based on my experiences, this is exactly what you would *not* want to do, since the PC without Remote Connections finished quite quickly, and the one without took much longer.

I dunno pal, it worked for me. I guess giving a try doesn't hurt at all.
In my case was the contrary: Less remote connections, Less speed.

This is why i do this go to my website for my modem download it and then switch the port over to the next pc. It would take what? 15-20min to download any patch which =30-40min to download on both pc vs 1-5+hours on both? ya i think i pick opening my ports vs not. or if people are lazy and can't google how to open ports you can download each patch on a website which take no less then 15-30min to download and set it up.

Just going to put this out there, I've only ever had trouble downloading a patch once or twice. Every other time the official SE patcher worked fine and pretty quick. It seems only a select few seem to not have problems with it. That being said they should fix it and give us a proper one, for those who are forced to torrent.

I am hit or miss on patches.


Some patch nights its a 5 minute affair, others it can take up to 3 hours and I go play a different game while its running till my Windows 7 UAC pops up saying it wants to patch.

To be honest my main concern is for Patch 1.18 as Yoshi stated in his letter:

That is what I am most worried about, 300 odd MB can take long enough 1.18 could well end up being 1GB+ and then lets not forget how they manage there updates so 1.18a, 1.18b and so on will require us to re-download 1.18 in full each time even if the actual update is only a few MB worth of tweeks.

I really hope they have some sort of fix for the patcher before then otherwise it 1.18 could be a nightmare with the patcher in it's current state.
