i90 Does not make you a good player

Is it just me, or do you see more and more people assuming they're elite or really good simply because they have i90? Considering how easy it is to get myth, all having i90 really means is that you've been playing longer at level 50 than most others. Same with having coil t1-2 gear. This does not make you supreme or better than anyone else.

The best is when someone says "my main has better gear than you" as a way to try showing they have more knowledge or are right in a situation (ironically lodestone proves them wrong most of the time, but I digress).

Two types of players are ilvl90:

    1. The lucky raid member who has managed to acquire their entire BiS set and/or full Allagan from coil drops.

    2. The newbie farming WP for Mythology since the beginning and using currency on non-BiS gear simply because it is higher ilvl.

One will know what they're doing, the other one has just played a long time and probably has no clue how to play their class effectively seeing as how they have no idea how to gear themselves up correctly.

People have been selling Relic carries and Extreme Mode carries for a while now, so be careful about using that as a basis of judgement.

The good players unlucky with loot are hovering somewhere between ilvl80-90, patiently waiting for their drops from Coil while spending Myth on their BiS pieces for a second class.

edit: Obviously this is a generalization. You do not need to post a reply defending yourself as the exception. This isn't directed at anyone specifically, but a rule of thumb you can go by when assessing the general population.

In the age of MMO's Experience has always trumphed gear. But..doesn't matter how good of a player you are if you don't have the gear to back it up.

I don't know how many complete fail i80 "Garuda EX FARM WILL QUEUE TITAN" parties I've joined. So much fail in each one. I joined 4 of these farm parties in a row with all different people, and not one of them killed Garuda EX once. So I agree with you on many levels, but I've also joined many groups with lower requirements, "Must know fight" types, and have come up with equal amounts of fail. In reality we've been handed a *failfinder* and until enough people memorized each rotation.. its going to be painful.

Unfortunately there isn't a working *no fails* button on the partyfinder, so I can't blame people for trying to look to higher gear levels to at least make up for *some* of people's fails.

I tell my CT Raids all the time that my gear makes me better than they are, and it's almost always true. =P

I call bs on this one. I haven't even touched coil yet because I don't yet have the time to get seven people together and wipe for hours trying to learn the fights. I'm an i90 myth war, ever since I've 'geared up' relic'd myth etc I never lose hate unless I want to, no matter how geared the dps/heals, full i90 allagan pld/war? The one's I've played with aren't good enough to keep hate if I focus fire on my i74ish blm. (twelve help them when I went aoe mode)

Where you get your gear doesn't make you 'better'. Okay maybe if it was from Twintania, but that's only if it's for the job you actually beat it on.

Had a war in CT the other day trying to pull that crap just because he had the Ex primal axe. He caused a wipe twice because he couldn't manage his cooldowns on the Bone Dragon in the last phase of it, then when I went to MT, he and his baddy group stood outside of the instance. We beat it the next try with me mting and him standing there trying to pull hate off me, guess what? He was dead at the end xD And he even said 'too bad I won!' when I /cried over his corpse. I think it was because he provoked, combo'd-BB and actually had hate for the last few seconds, which is the reason he died.
    But yeah 733t 700ts = skill lmao

I guess my main point is that having full i90 doesn't give you a right to act like you're better than everyone else (not that anything really gives you the right). Especially when 100% of it is myth bought.

I'm not saying being full myth makes you a bad player, I just found my experiences with elitism being with those who were majority myth'd out.

I just love the biggest jerk with full i90 being the worst person in the party.

i see a big difference skill wise in people who "buy" their ilv90 compared to those who "earn" them.

Yep, completely agree. I also think it is sad someone can make literally *one* mistake and people will drop from these parties. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get the party on the same page, and obviously mistakes can happen. Chill out people. Some parties are definitely a pit of despair you don't want to fall in.. but a lot of things can be worked out with a tad of patience.

Actually, a player being bad gives me that right very much so, as well as someone being in Full AF1 with sub 50 Accessories... As well as someone who says they don't need to use some of their skills in a group.....

Seems like a lot of factors can give me that right.

Oh and PS, I have the right to act however I choose since I live in a world that allows me to role play as someone else. Perhaps my Character is arrogant? Or perhaps, she is a Veteran? Or maybe even a Re-awoken Warrior of Light back to save Eorzea AGAIN? Any of those can give you the right to act as you choose. How the other people around you take said attitude is entirely up to them. But I don't think anyone will ever appreciate your attempt at controlling others behaviors.
