    Belt: Armor or Accessory?

So i had the hugest argument with a fellow tank, that i have been grouping with in a static for coils for a while.

I stated i wanted accessories, and that he could have armor (Feet already dropped on the first part and i passed for him)

Then..., Belt dropped i was like "Woop woop!" and Needed on it (he was on his DD class at the time because we were using a different setup for this next boss on the new turn) and i won off course.

Then poop hit the fan, he went absolutely nuts and i got called all sorts of names. I was stunned because i was 100% that belt was an accessory. Whole coil group split in half after that because of epic lyrical warfare.

So i'm just asking, is a Belt considered a piece of armor, or an accessory?

Was wondering because my myth armor is called Valor, and all of the other stuff is Hero's something of Fending (ring, necklace, earring, belt, etc) and every other game i have EVER played, belt was always an accessory (IRL too).

Honest mistake, one that did not need such an aggressive outcome. (I passed on the bloody feet, for Eorzea sake!)

What it considered to be standard accepted terms to the community may not apply to an individual because it looks like a misunderstanding since you both had a different concept of what is considered armor and what is considered accessory. The only way to avoid this is perhaps next time clarify by saying belt, wrist, legs, body, feet, neck, ear type labels instead of a general term like accessory or armor that can cross over depending on the individual's opinion/FFXIV knowledge.

Well, the arrangement of items on your character sheet groups it together with armor, and NPC merchants who sell armor sell belts, but those who sell jewelry don't. Both of those support your argumentative teammate's position. But as you mentioned the naming of several sets seems to group it with accessories, as does normal English usage of the word. So you both had reasonable cause to think your interpretation was right. I'd classify this as an honest misunderstanding and in any case agree that he/she had no cause to get aggressive about it.

Personally, belts are accessories to me cause the myth version can be shared between the two jobs but like other people said, discuss what each of you want before clicking need/greed/pass will go a long way in giving your raid the best chances of no internal conflict. We, for once, use a spreadsheet to indicate who wants what and in order of importance.

When you buy philo/myth gear, the belts tend to sit in the armor tab and not accessories tab iirc.
However, the pricing is consistent with accessories rather than armor...

So easiest way to avoid misunderstandings would be to say accessories incl. belt, or armor incl. belt.

I assumed everything on the left side was armor and everything on the right is accessories. Even in CT a belt drops along with the other main set pieces.

I would consider it armor but just because it offers Defense.

Left side is for armor, right side is for accessories.
