Will there ever be an easier way to level up your chocobo?

There's so many options on how you level yourself up, yet there's only one way to level up your bird. Not only that, but the EXP your chocobo gains is damn pitiful, even against LV49 enemies.


I only recently got my bird to level 5 after raising him on and off and seeing the EXP needed for another level up makes me cringe.

I agree that leveling up chocobo is painful. I hate it and that's why I never do it. I summon my chocobo for low level solo content like hunting log but that's about it.

It's completely detached from other leveling options for us, and leveling us to max level is already hard enough

I'm not entirely sure. Given that it exists entirely as an "extra" activity and doesn't directly impact any of the core content I can imagine them using it as an excuse to keep it difficult.

At the very least though I'd love if it didn't count you as being in a group. Sometimes when I'm queuing as a DPS I like to go farm mobs while I wait and it'd be nice if I could have my chocobo out without getting knocked out of the dungeon queue.

No. I see the current chocobo system as "there for the sake of being there". Chocobos are not pets, they are stupid companions that somehow negatively impacts you in everything but one way: deal additional damage.

Chocobo cons:
1. Disables Duty Finder
2. Disables mount
3. Takes up a party slot
4. Takes up money to summon
5. Takes a very long time to level
6. Cannot be ordered to do specific skills
7. Cannot switch target until the target is no longer valid (dead or you moved out of range)
8. Robs your exp
9. Requires negligible money to summon

Chocobo pros:
1. Deals small additional damage / heal when absolutely nobody is around

As is, chocobo companion would actually be better off not implemented.

They are minor support companions. If we gave them super features, the bots that are already abusing them in their current state would love it even more.

I do not ask them to be party member replacement. I just ask them to be something like Emerald Carbuncle, something that can help you but not to the point of replacing party member. In fact, make them act just like a Topaz Carbuncle minus enmity generation and I'm very happy. Controlling chocobo is a dream I wish can come true.

If the concern is bots, simply remove chocobo altogether. It will reduce headcahe in SE's part. Allow chocobo bardings to be obtained elsewhere, such as obtaining your role's relic, for example.

There are better ways to combat bots that don't negatively affect the gameplay for other players. What decisive advantage does a chocobo give a botter anyway? I have a hard time believing that it's so huge that it warrants making the system as bad as it is now.

As it is now, I don't feel like the trade-offs for having the chocobo out are worth it, therefore to me the system is useless.

Considering I'm already at level 50, there's no worry about having EXP lost to the bird. However, it's extremely silly that the chocobo's level scales to yours, whether by level sync or when you switch jobs that is not capped on levels, yet its EXP curve doesn't change.

I get that having a summoned Chocobo is good for people leveling up while solo, but the player greatly outclasses his/her pet at such a fast rate that it's like a cheap version of the Arcanist.

whats hard with pulling some mobbs and kill them together with other people

use party find, get a water elemental group at quarrymill and farm them, beside that you can make a lot of money by spiritbonding gear

getting a lvl 10 chocobo by this way takes a lesser amount of time then reaching "trusted" at any beasttribe, which gives absolutely no advantages too

And to be perfectly honest, what kind of bot have chocobo out? The kind that has reached level 30, that's what. And what kind of bot reaches level 30?

Btw the last part is not rethoric. I heat about mining bots all the time, but bots that farm using chocobo I have never heard of
