Thank you, I thought I was the only one. I get the same reaction when I hear people using the term 'troll'. People are so innovative these days, they come up with these new terms for behaviors that have already been defined:
Toxic -- Unfriendly (Why are you playing with unfriendly people? Advice from mom: If Billy takes your toys don't go over there to play anymore.)
Troll -- Jerk (I have a more colorful word for this but I'm not going to post it here. Someone who can't have a normal conversation based on logic and likes to hide that fact by resorting to circular logic to frustrate others. Like this hasn't been done before.)
I'm pretty sure I enjoy group oriented MMOs - However Yoshi designed ARR to be as "self-sufficient" as possible which is why you can barely do anything prior to end-game with people or at best 4 people if it's a dungeon. Unless you count FATEs, which no one really does in an organized manner anyway.
Even in 1.0 we were able to go into Open World dungeons with 15 player parties which later was scaled down to 8 for dungeons that are now 4 man in ARR.

I agree with you. And that's the problem. When a game tries to be a jack-of-all-trades it sounds great, but what really happens people forget about; the game becomes a master of none. All aspects become worn thin and it feels like something is missing.I'm pretty sure I enjoy group oriented MMOs - However Yoshi designed ARR to be as "self-sufficient" as possible which is why you can barely do anything prior to end-game with people or at best 4 people if it's a dungeon. It would be so damn fun if we could walk into dungeons with giant parties. Full parties and alliances and just absolute chaos... I wish there were two options - Duty Finder (for the traditional 4-man/8-man party) and the ability to just walk into the dungeon with however many (honestly, some of the low level dungeons I've completed without tanks, so why make people wait for tanks all the time?)
Sure, it'd probably make the lag problems even worse than they already are, but it would be so much fun.
The ability to adapt would be a lot of fun, too. The most fun I've had in dungeons so far is usually when we DON'T have the the 'assigned group' we're supposed to have. I've gone through with me (WHM) and a tank. And lots of times 2DD's and WHM. Having to look at what you've got and figure out how to use your job for it is great.
