But it's not new generated gil. That's the point. Generated gil is new, unchangeable, and ADDS to the economy. Also doesn't depend on a buyer, and no undercutting. Also maps are likely to go for prices less than 12k soon (13.5k on my server, 2 days ago), meaning less than the amount of gil generated by it.
Are people still actually talking about "generating" gil? Seriously?
OP is talking about making money for a house, guess what happens to all that "generated gil" once they buy the House?
No matter what method you're using to make money for a FC house you're not "helping" the economy. Regardless, the economy is retarded because of the amount of people that cant into economics and undercut and screw themselves, Oh also the fact that there's nothing worth buying in this game. The economy is inherently "broken" by design and square is okay with that as gauged by the housing prices.
This game doesn't need to "generate" gil. Please stop spreading this stupid economy doomsday theory thats been circulating since launch, nor was that relevant to OP.
No more cast bars for Bard! Thank you, Yoshi-P! All hail our lord and savior!
On Hyperion last week maps were 22k each. This week around 15k, although I haven't checked in the last couple days. I don't expect that price to sustain itself much longer, since the market is getting more and more flooded with them.
@ that fishing guide: You can't actually fish at the lighthouse until lv15, you can fish on the nearby coastline though.

I'm going to have to side with sylkis on this one.But it's not new generated gil. That's the point. Generated gil is new, unchangeable, and ADDS to the economy. The fact is, currently you would "make" more gil selling the maps while their price is still above the total payout per map. The person buying the map will still generate the gil you aren't - maybe not as much, but in the end the gil is generated by the buyer and you still pocket more gil.
If we're talking raw numbers, sell the maps for more gil / less time invested. The added bonus is that if and when the price of maps drop below the total payout (which is insane) you can just go back to popping your own maps for "guaranteed" gil generated by the map rather than trying to sell on the market when it's flooded and prices have dropped.
On that note, if prices ever were to drop below the minimum payout per map, don't you think this wouldn't last more than a day seeing as you would theoretically profit from the map with a chance at getting a bluebird minion (actually worth 1mil on sarg)??

This is what I was going to say. Somebody will eventually use the map to generate gil.
Right now, maps are about 10k on my server yet I am still simply selling them because they are not worth the time.
To get the max amount of gil you have to party with 8 others and each of them would have a map (otherwise you only get 1.8k back).
Doing 8 maps takes about an hour, which gets you about 15k gil (not including items).
In that hour I could have sold the map for 10k, farm something else and easily make more than 5k.
We've also come to this conclusion a week ago. Within that week, we've generated 1.5mil from just 8 people donating the treasure maps gil and giving me all the tomestones mats to make into items for sale. The medium house is looking more and more plausible now.
