    Advice for a newbie PLD

First, I have played as a Paladin in Final Fantasy XI Online so I have some idea about hate generation and such (I'm aware that PLD in XIO and XIVARR are completely different... but the basics are the same), but I'm mainly a DD player (with SMN, BLM and LNC). Now, I've only just started leveling my Gladiator with Duty Roulette being brought in. So far, my current setup is this:

I've done pretty well I'd like to think in the early dungeons, but now as I can be put into Brayflox Longstop, which is where things start to get more difficult. I'd just like to know if A: my setup is ok or needs adjusting and B: some tactics to use.

I'm using the standard Fast Blade + Savage Blade combo, with Fast Blade + Riot Blade for MP regen... alongside Provoke, Shield Lob, Shield Bash and I admit, I probably use Flash more than I should.

So any advice for a newbie PLD?

Provided you mark your targets, and your DPS follows the marking (instead of hitting wrong targets or AOE-ing them), a single Flash is usually enough to hold initial hate on a group. Try alternating your targets, and dropping the Halone combo on each mob. If there's more than 3 mobs, you might consider throwing a Flash at the end of every Halone combo for additional group aggro. You should never need to use Riot Blade in groups at low level dungeons, as you should only use Flash two to three times per group, and in between groups, MP regens rather fast.

Mark targets -> Shield Lob main target -> Flash -> RoH combo main target -> Flash again -> RB combo 2nd and 3rd target -> Flash -> RoH 2nd til it's dead and RoH 3rd until it's dead. 3 Flashes is all you'll really need for most trash pulls (honestly you could probably do without the 3rd Flash), unless they're big (which they shouldn't be). If the first target isn't nearing death, feel free to do FB -> SB -> RoH 2nd target after your 2nd Flash, then you can go into the whole RB thing to get your MP back. I don't really remember how useful it was in the 30 area, but I know Fracture was really good for trash when I was leveling up. As long as no one's sleeping anything those dot ticks are good to keep the mobs off your healer's face.

The above comments says it all.

Just to add a couple of non technical things. It helps ALOT to communicate before starting the dungeon. Ask if there is somebody new to the dungeon and let the party know that you expect them to follow the targeting set. If you're having problem with enmity, ask your dps to wait at least 2 seconds for you to pull hate. when i play my DRG, I always let the tank gather hate and position properly instead of blindly bursting dps. Just a little time spent there would improve your overall experience. Hope this helps
