We can divide the people who are attempting to do titan extreme into three groups: New people who are having fun trying to do the fight for the first time, people who have completed the fight and no longer wish to risk countless hours of attempts due to a person who hasn't done the fight as much as they have (punctuated with an Ifrit extreme check), and then there are the people stuck in the middle. The middle guys and gals that know where to stand, when to dodge, and how to do their job, but are constantly held back from victory because the only people they can ever group with are those with less experience and skill than themselves.

If the fight is to be kept at its current difficulty, than we need tools to gauge player skill more effectively. Like hours spent doing a given fight, dps meters, and other things considered standard issue in other MMOs. If not, then the fight should be toned down so that people don't spend ludicrous amounts of time here. 30+ hours wiping due to a revolving door of players of limited experience doesn't cut it here.

I've seen people lag in fights, but most people who lag out just have bad connections period. That's your own fault.

Really? Another Titan QQ post? Read pretty well any Titan HM QQ post and it's likely the same response as you're going to get here. Join a FC or LS with people who have already cleared the fight and get them to help you out. Make a PF group which states clearly the level of experience you desire so you can progress in the fight. (experience up to heart, experience past heart, experience up to super bombs etc). Keep bashing your head against a wall until you get your clear. It wasn't a quick or easy thing for any of the people that pugged through it before you and it's not going to be easy for you either. Hell It took me 5 days at 3-4 hours a day before I found a group to clear it, but it was easier the second time and likely will be for the third.

I have a better idea than FC and Linkshells. Give us Matt from FFXI. Do the Matt tests to gain access to end game content. End of story. Your welcome.

It would solve the issue of player skill because players who can't complete the Matt tests would simply not be able to do the end game content. It would better highlight any latency issues across the player base by demonstrating that they have the skills necessary for the fight, yet keep dying. Finally, it would improve the overall mentality of the end game community since they wouldn't have to do the unsavory task of rooting out good players from those lacking in necessary skills, which can burn bridges.

Titan is already locking some people out of Coil. You now want to introduce another fight to lock out the majority of the player base from end-game content? You might aswel tell SE to go free to play, because that's the direction they will be heading in if they start gating people out of content. What worked with XI back then won't work with XIV now.

Those games don't have monthly subscribers to keep entertained; they bought the game and the developers don't care if they're stuck on it for 6 months, they already invested their money. XIV isn't exactly rammed with end-game content, so it would be foolish for them to deny what little content there is to the majority of their paying customers. Yoshi already spoke about this; those XI days are gone and like it or not, most people want casual games now.

Hardcore gamers who like bashing their heads against content for weeks or months at a time, like myself, are in the minority.

You need to defeat Titan to unlock Coil. Believe it or not, but we've made millions taking people through Titan, so there is still a huge amount of people that cannot defeat him.
