    I think on some level the devs are against obvious caps and such because it does create several glass ceilings gear wise while forcing the devs to balance around those glass ceilings. Granted, I LOVE the glass ceilings because it gives me exact values to aim for and removes a lot of the guesswork that I've grown to hate in MMO gearing.

    At the same time, WoW eventually had to start removing stats as a whole because of this. First it was unifying healing spellpower and spell damage spellpower, then was the removal of defense rating as a stat. Now they're removing hit rating (imagine if the FFXIV devs decided to remove accuracy from gear) because it is not "interesting". My guess is they don't want to follow WoW's footsteps in that regard.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    Only game I can remember not being transparent in regards to stats is Everquest. This required players to use math to figure out exactly what each stat did and how it affected game play. Eventually this led to players figuring out how trivial some stats were and that they were more or less "just for looks". Considering gear is divided by job or type (melee or dps caster) the small difference a few points give you via jewelry (or materia) other than HPs probably matter little (maybe less than 1%) when compared to your base stats and pre-chosen gear. The only thing that really differentiates people damage or healing are the tiers of gear. This makes it a lot easier for devs to balance by adjusting a few stats rather than allowing someone to stack a certain stat because they know the effect is great. But in the end I vote for stat transparency as I would like to know if rolling on a piece will make a difference (rather than passing and letting someone else roll who needs).

    Be sure you're all also putting this stuff in game. System > Support Desk > Contact Us > Leave a suggestion. Might as well try that avenue; it might be harder to avoid compared to forums.

    Don't forget we can also ride other mounts too, so maybe it'd be nice to be able to keep our chocobo out (even if it's not actively doing anything rather than just following us) while we mount a different thing (gobbue, magitek armor, unicorn, etc. etc.).

    Note that the issues being considered for attention are the ones least worthy of it.

    Oooo crit goes up as we get more crit! So a higher number is better?

    I thought my level 10 gear gave me insane damage but i was wrong : D thanks SE!

    P.S seeing the numbers on my HP bar is too confusing, please give us green - orange - red HP bars, i cba doing the math when i get a 5 vit boost.

    I don't care about the crit stuff, doesn't matter to me, and your explanation is pretty much what I go by anyway.

    However, that Companion info, about darn time. I hope this makes it into the next update, because it should seriously have been that way at launch. Seriously. But I am glad you guys are at least looking at fixing it to the way it should be.
