Oops I deleted my post ; ;.
They should drop the icon, because now it feels like 2nd graders are the only people who are getting any benefits from the aggressive icon. It is quite upsetting.
To: FF XIV Team,
I totally agree:
I understand you want to make the game more mainstream friendly, but since you don't lose any Experience Points if you die (unlike FF 11), then the worst that happens is you get slightly inconvenienced and try to sneak by some monsters again.
- Please REMOVE the Icon for monsters that can attack you.
Right now, there are Bright Red Icons on every aggressive monster you see, and it really takes away from the immersive feel of the world you're in.
Thanks!

I agree fully with this. It was fun in FF11 to sneak, deodorise and invis yourself around aggresive mobs, and knowing which mobs aggro'd and which didn't.
+1
Somehow, this is so true for me too. I really feel the same. The Aggro Icon is just as bad as the line on the map telling you how to get to places. It is just plain stupid. I love Chigoes. Be smart, Get yourself a RR item, Prism Powder and Sneak Oil. I loved how the mobs in FFXI would run you down and never give up. I have to ask myself, why in the hell am I playing this broke kid's game. What makes it worse is I still have 3 FFXI accounts active. Why? Well because FFXIV has not been able to pull me away from them.
