I agree with the others here. The new icons looking cool and such. But only show them if we're actually targetting the monsters, that would clear the view a lot incase you're facing like 10+ Monsters.

On the other hand, we don't need the Level numbers that desperate. If the monsters with the same lvl range stick together it's not neccasary. Only if you mix up those LV1~10 and LV30~40 mobs in ONE area that'd be needed.

Now only to fix the different mob sizes and add those little icons with the right show/hide options and we're good to go

    Seriously Why?

+1 for only showing level and aggressiveness upon targeting of mob.

Well the icons certainly look better than the gairish one we have at the moment! But you should just leave it with no icon for aggro/passive like FFXI.. was more fun finding out the hard way

I dislike seeing the level on the in world name, it takes away the grandness of exploring.

    A lot.

I'm all for it being on the target window, but not on their actual names please.

I love image 1 and 2, and please don't make alll monsters like image 3. (And it's not just there because the monster was clicked on).

There's no reason for this information not to be displayed, it's displayed in every other MMO out there. All it needs is a toggle option so people like you can make the game as hard on yourself as you want.

    I quite dislike the icons.

It would be better if they were only displayed upon clicking on the monster rather than cluttering up the scenery.

I like these icons, they're not "in your face" like the initial aggro icons are. Also as devs have stated they want us to know aggro and links and adjust our battleplan accordingly. Having it visable like this might be a better idea vs. having to stop, click every mob in the area and then set up our cc's and such.

FFXI wasn't like like every other MMO.

FFXIV wasn't going to be; but it's becoming more like others as time progresses since the niche that FFXI filled has gotten far smaller. (Well, okay, they wanted to gather a wider audience this time, but they kinda failed pretty badly.)

OT: I vote for smaller, less vibrant icons. I still feel the aggro icon is out of place in the game world.

If the developers choose to add the level display to nameplates: Make a toggle option. Toggles for 1) Off. 2) Selected. 3) All.

    That will please everyone.

I think the number one fault of developers is that they force changes and don't give people options. Not just with games, but with any piece of software, even operating systems. (I'm looking at you, Microsoft.)

Are you going to cycle through all the mobs just to confirm which ones are the right ones to fight first?. And that is just talking about one semi large scale battle. You don't need to have a photographic memory to be able to keep in mind which mobs to target first. We did not have the system display the levels nor the aggro propery for us so far and there was no problem, so why should there be a problem now?

I'm all for the display off/when targetted/always toggle option.
