Ok so 2.1 comes out and we have all these new boss fights.
Do you just wait until a group beats it and uploads a video so you can just base it around that?

yes, that is exactly what they do.

and then they come on the forums to look down their noses on everyone as if they are truly skilled, when really all they did was just wait for a walkthrough.

meanwhile, the truly, REALLY skilled players....don't do dungeons seriously in the duty finder once they get to the "progression" stage of the game. any truly serious progression is done in Guild or among their friends lists.

If you're using duty finder, please respect that you are one part of a whole group. A group that expects you to do your job so that content can be passed. Just going in blindly isn't really being fair to everyone else. The game as a whole is a group effort. This includes figuring things out and spreading tactics and information to help make you a better player.

If you want to take a blind approach, try to find like minded members to party with. I don't deny at all that it can be fun to figure things out with friends, but it really can't be done by yourself in an MMORPG.

I think Duty Finder is where most people go to learn the basics of a fight, myself included. I would never be annoyed with someone having no knowledge of a fight I found in DF.

Once you know the fight and are experienced, by all means only play with like minded players. But Duty Finder is totally random, if you don't want people new to a fight then don't use it. Other than Titan EX and T5 I haven't watched any videos beforehand and have done fine so far.

I'm not knocking people who do research a fight first, or want to play with those who do, just don't expect everyone else to do the same.

Lol, i was abused and told to watch videos during the fight when i DFed Titan EX. I told them at the start we would get nowhere and i was just having a look at the fight. After the abuse i asked them to vote kick me.

Another example last night . I set up a Garuda X Party Finder party . I stated in my comment looking for members who have beat her or have come very close . On the selection area i do not have new comers welcome checked . I have high level gear , serious players , and multi runs highlighted . every group i made i got someone who had not done it after the 1st run he killed spiny we all were mad . He said he was new . I said did you even read the comment ? he said yes but how hard can it really be . 2 tries later everyone starts to fight . And we kick the "new" guy out because he did not follow directions . We leave Garuda X and then everyone drops party . Same thing happens when i join a party for Good king mog .I join a PF and 2 ppl are new comment said join if you know the fight . One said he watched the video the other said he has no time to watch a video ( but has time to play the dungeon ?) we explain the fight and kill order . And we even mark the mobs and he/she ( girl chr ) had no freaking clue on how to tank the War and Pld . So we said ok try to tank the king then . And we wipe . The fact is it doesn't matter DF or PF some one will join who has no idea to try to get a easy win or be carried . The whole PF and DF argument is also a false one . I have 3 relics on my Alt on Diabolos server 1 i got in a server party ( war ) the other 2 i got in DF parties ( Drg and Brd ) that's killing Titan HM in DF . PF and DF is still a 50/50 crap shoot you always have one derp that screws up the entire party . I don't get mad if we all try hard and we can tell were all trying hard . I do when before we even start and we explain things they still don't get it . That's where hey watch the video so you understand whats going on comes in .

People need to stop expecting guaranteed wins through the Duty Finder just like they need to stop expecting speedruns through it.

Always assume you're going to have to explain the fight when you're in the Duty Finder, and don't be a jerk about having to do so either. Remember, you're helping someone who very well might end up helping others as well.

I use duty finder to learn as well but I also would like to be able to win once in awhile.

I am a PC gamer.
I am going to defend many PS3 gamers that do not have a pc near by to watch stupid videos.
Get real man when I bought this game through SE, No where did it say (In order to play this game you must have access to You Tube) videos are ok but if you don't want to watch them or cant then don't, Just learn it the way you want to and to hell with what others say.

I'm not trying to make this sound kinky but when you had your first you know what, Did you run to the nearest Pron shop to watch videos before doing it? I find it more enjoyable in life to do things and enjoy the ride...
