I don't see how FFXIV could be affecting this. I would re-install your driver. Have you tried other games?

    Read this: http://superuser.com/questions/48496...e-discrete-gpu

It's a commonly faced issue on notebook with nVidia Optimus.

    Hi TheFirstKel.

You're correct. I have NVidia Optimus. I've already tried what your link says and it doesn't work.

Except for the completely reinstall the system..

Completely uninstall your Nvidia drivers (reboot), use a program like Driver Fusion (http://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion - free version is fine) to clear out any remaining Nvidia files (reboot again) and then reinstall the drivers.

Have you made sure that within the bios that your primary gpu - is set to the card?

In ffxiv you can select the display, with nvidia optimus it will appear as intel even when it, in background, is using nvidia processor.

Well something is not right if it didn't work for you as I have Intel HD4000 with nVidia GT730m and it is definitely using nVidia GPU, you set it on the nVidia Control Panel, and within the game you need to pick the right display as well.

zaineal - I haven't touched the bios. Didn't want to mess with it because i'm not familiar with the system. plus, I don't even know how to go there using windows 8.

ZohnoReecho - I can't select the display in FFXIV with NVidia optimus. But yes, theory is even if FFXIV is showing HD 4000, it's still using GT 940M. NVidia GPU activity shows that FFXIV is using the GPU.

TheFirstKel - NVidia control panel already has it in high performance. but in game it says HD 4000. plus, in windows, screen resolution, it's also using HD 4000.
