I'll be honest, in my own personal opinion. If they had changed the game world like they promised, and removed the lag. I think the newer version of 1.23b would have been amazing to play.
Obviously that didn't happen though, sadly.

Wait, you described 1.0 there, yet you are defending 1.0?
You are so right. Looking at a black loading screen while you do nothing is so much more immersive and better design than actually moving through the world and the game designers designing the world in such a way that you don't have to stop and wait like this is a game from 10 years ago. And since the zones are so tiny you're zoning A LOT. The more you're forced to wait at loading screens the better. Don't know how anyone could ever disagree with this. It's crazy.Remember Uldah in 1.0? how you had to walk through those long side tunnels (which still exist but are blocked off) and the main gates were closed? Now they could open the main gate since they didn't need the loading corridors anymore. All over the game you had long narrow spaces that served to mask the transfer from one area to another on the server side. But since there was never anything in these spaces (and players nearby crossing at the same time would momentarily vanish) it was just meaningless padding.
It's weird..but in 1.x I could change jobs, display LS (FC) crest, info and even repair myself or others in instances prior to gaining aggro - So in a way, ARR actually downgraded while trying to upgrade xD. Zones however, leads to better designed world when the designers make use of it - They didn't really make that much use of zones since overworld is useless in ARR 99% of the time, but smaller confined spaces are much better to work with.
You seem confused - He described ARR and most other newer MMORPGs.
They removed the ability to change jobs because of how you were required to class stack for specific fights. MNK was only useful in 1.0 for the AV boss, BLM the rest of the time. No. 1.0 was a claustrophobic, copy/pasted mess. Stop remembering it different.

You are too focused on the copy paste thing, for witch we dont tolk about it !
Nobody here is saying that liked the copy paste thing! People are saying that they liked the big zone worlds witch were in version 1.0 including me, if instead they did not copy paste in those zones and made them unique it would be sooo much better and you could explore so much more and not to go from one little squere to another with laoding screen! The chocobob transportation is pointless, reason is that the zone fields are small !
And we are speaking for no loading screen when you go from city to the field zone and the opposite! We did not say that in version 1.0 did not have loading screens!
How a purson can like this black loading screen...you really want to tell me that you like more to sit in front of the laoding screen doing nothing, instead of going down the stairs, across the bridge and then into the filed with you char.. ? In Gridania as an example to go from one part of the city to the other you need to laod again ....why i ask you why !! And why in Uldah do i need to have a loading screen befor i enter the zone filed when i can see it true the gate and simply make 2 steps and im out !!
1.0 had the same locations copied and pasted OVER AND OVER. No one can deny this, Look at the old gridania map SO FUNNY.
also, who cares about loading screens if the game is better overall in design
FFXIV ARR graphics engine either sucks or is running for PS3 limits.
biggest issue from 1.0 was the servers, ARR had the same fate at launch till they did there upgrade.
the world in ARR is so small and empty its crazy atleast 50% of the world has nothing but you in it, even in instances its pretty empty in 1.0 its was swarming with mobs they took longer to kill also..
