Gathering and selling the items from rare treasure maps are probably the fastest ways to make money. If you don't have a high level gatherer, consider spiritbinding and selling Rank 3+ materia. Rank 4+ sells for the most, but you can do passably well with Rank3 as some players will buy them for their relic weapons and as stand-ins until they get enough for higher level materia. Just search the marketplace to find what sells for the most. You can also sell food, or materials for food, as those are being steadily consumed. Unfortunately, food has a fairly low profit margin for your time.

Also, many FCs and players are clinching their belts trying to save up for FC housing. Because of that, you can say FFXIV is in the middle of a recession. Don't be disappointed in a slow turnover
