I don't know. There are so many trolls on both sides on this forum.

If anything I would say Gridania won. During some of the Conjurer mission they said raids of soldiers have been lost before just because the soldier carelessly walked into the forest without being aware the forest is alive. As for that battle that you specifically mentioned I have not heard anything.

Not exactly what you are looking for. But since you seem to (like myself) enjoy these sort of things

However, the fate of the land would soon change. Not fifteen years past, a new threat appeared without warning from the east. Metal-clad warriors brandishing weapons that spewed streams of fire, fleets of behemoth airships belching oily smoke that would block out the sun for days at a time... A resistance was amassed, but to little avail, and it was not long before Ala Mhigo, once considered the most powerful of the remaining six Eorzean city-states, had fallen to the mighty Garlean Empire.

As the empire’s dreadnaughts continued their march of terror across the blood-soaked fields of the north, the remaining nations put aside their differences and clandestinely joined hands to form a loose alliance to ensure they not meet the same fate, should the invaders turn their eyes southward.

Fortunately, the invasion never came, and just as quickly as it had arrived, the empire was gone again. However, echoes of their grim message rang clear in the hearts of Eorzea’s people—its effect on them, profound and irreversible. The realm would never be the same.

I think that it was the Garleans that were going for Gridania and the Ishgardians intercepted them with the Dragons. That's why the Garlean Invasion never made it to the southern cities.

Azurymber, I'm going to speculate a bit based on what I do know. I believe that Gridania currently keeps Ishgard at bay. However this isn't entirely Gridania's doing, it is more the Elementals and the Wood itself keeping the peace. From what I understand, Ishgard has angered the Elementals on previous occasions, and felt their wrath. This could be the tragedy you speak of. Without knowing the archer line myself, I can't give you more to go on.

This would explain and account for the majority of the events surround the Conjurer missions.

I've talked to almost every single NPC in the game, if not all of them. The only NPCs I know I missed are a couple here and there in some of the class quests while I was recording (for time issues) and the starting city quests for each nation.

With that being said, I have completed all the Archer Quests and must have missed the one NPC that spoke of the Gridanians and the Ishgardians having problems between one another in the past, considering how noble and law abiding both nations are compared to the other city states.

Dragonfall I might have heard of once before, but I know little to nothing of it. It sounds like Dragonfall is/was either a camp or a landmark in Eorzea, or even a description of what the battle consisted of.

Ishgardians and Gridanians both believe that one should not take a life of another, unless given just reasoning behind an offensive action against another individual. They both are friendly to one another to this day and welcome one another into each others region and city hamlets whenever.

I'll have to check out some stuff and see what the whole story is about, but from the content we have in the game so far... I 100% doubt there is anything that will completely describe what this event is all about and anything else into details.

It is a bit of a standstill because Ishguard is full of QQers with guns and heavy machinery while Grid is full of kick*** mages and lancers that like to "and suddenly" from trees, but they can't do much when the trees are being burned by the awesome power of Apollo, the controller of all evil fire elementals.

Gridania or Ishagard... Really?... it was the Subligans from Subligania that won the war.

We are like ninja's we fight in the shadow to get the job done... except we love showing off our naked muscular bodies in tight subligars in our daily lives...
