    The Auction Board

I feel like the Auction board system is what a lot of people dislike about the current market community.

I feel, personally; that the game economy will improve once the market inferface is changed. The whole 'listed price' and retainers nonsense is very inefficent. I prefer the Order / Buy now method like in GW2.

Where you could 1. sell your items directly for a persons 'order price' or list the item at a price fo your choosing.

    Any thoughts?

Well, I personally don't see why people would hate something we don't have.

So in other words you'd like the system we have now. Ok here you go.

Only thing I want to see changed is the inability to flood markets. Instead, we should have the option to make our Retainers sell another stack the moment the previous of that item sold.

I have 100 lots of X, I want to sell them in stacks of 10, I tell my Retainer to sell all 100 of them, in stacks of 10. When one stack of 10 in sold, my Retainer automatically puts up the next 10, until all 100 are sold.

Other than that, the economy only sucks because SE made everything so damn common... There are only a handful of rare items in the game, and they're all vanity/housing related. Bravo SE.

I wouldn't mind a order board where I could put up an order for, say, Level 25 HQ tank gear, lay out the exact materia I wanted, and put a offer price on it. Crafters could search the order board, and if they think it's worth their time, claim that order and fulfill it within 1 hour or so. Obviously some kind of penalty needs to exist for people who claim orders but do not deliver.

If the buyer's order board could auto-match stuff with the seller's board, i.e. when I order Mega Potion*99 for 1000gil each, and there are people who list them for 500gil each, the game automatically purchase up to 99 of those that are listed for lower than 500gil.

But I don't think such a system is "necessary". The current seller's system seem to work fine for MMORPGs.

A seller's board, however, would remove much of the item-flipping market where people buy stuff listed at a low price and re-list them at a much higher price.

I'm against that. The market board was specifically designed to require human interaction. You need to invest time in the market board (whether it be surveying prices or actually putting up items for sale) to earn money. Such automation is against this stated design intent.

Yet you seem for a system which would take much of the human interaction out of the buying process?

What exactly is the difference between putting up 10 stacks of 10, for one price, occupying one space on the market board, and putting up 10 stacks of 10, ten times? It isn't automation... It's not like I was suggesting that we have the option to sell a quantity of something through our Retainers, and the moment we obtain that quantity it goes up for sale... That would be automation, each and every time until we tell the Retainer to stop... Though you'd still have to check and adjust prices, so not really...

Also, where exactly can I read the stated design intent of the market board? I'd be interested in reading that.

Because buying is not earning money. Selling is.

The exact difference you want such a system: due to limited selling slots. If there's no difference, then why not just put up 10 stacks of 10?

That was in a very old live letter I think. Perhaps even in beta. There were already requests to change the market board system, and I think it was Yoshi-P that said they specifically designed it to reward players who spend time on the market boards.

well, the order board could also be 'automatic' like in neverwinter for example. you have something, someone wants it, you send it to them and the game does the rest.
in 1.0 your retainer was the means to the gil, and they could reinforce that system for an 'order board'.
you want something? well. put the gil on your retainer first and your retainer pays for you once someone fills your order! you can then pick the item up at your retainer (maybe they could give the retainer an extra tab just for orders so you don't lose something because of a full retainer)

granted you still have the risk if crafting something that may not be needed anymore when you're done crafting, but that risk always exists.

I'm against the idea of having 'automatic selling', but I wouldn't rage quit if they implemented it.

I don't need an auction house either. I'm used to this system from playing SWTOR for two years now. I know how to make credits/gil.
