A use for leves in 2.1

Since EXP and Gil rewards have been nerfed for HQ turn-ins from leves starting from 2.1, how are people utilizing their leves now?

I am now sitting on 100 leves again, after spending 2 days clearing out leftover stock to make enough Amber Chokers for about 10 leves or so. In terms of crafting classes, I currently have GSM/BSM/WVR/CRP at 50. While I have other classes to level, but at the moment I'm trying to raise money for FC housing using the classes I have.

I'd like to think that leves are viable gil fountains - maybe not so much in 2.1 compared to 2.0 - but I am struggling to find a way of utilizing them without spending too much time and money for the materials. For example, while I had a supply of Raw Amber and Electrum Ore, a single Amber Choker HQ costs me 21 Wind Shards, which at an average price of about 20g each, adds up to 420g per piece. Given that you'd want to turn in 9 Amber Chokers for the HQ repeatable leve in Saint Coinach's Find, a single leve costs roughly 3780 gil, while earning you 5.4k gil per turn in - this really isn't much in terms of money generated.

So, has anyone figured out the best leves to do per class, based on reward vs. cost? Or are battlecraft/fieldcraft leves the new way to go now? Just sucks seeing them sit at 100 leves, when I am earning slightly better money spiritbonding i49 accessories (they now have a rather small chance to give tier IV materia - a change added in 2.1).

I don't know about gil reward and income rate for leve quests after 2.1. However, commenting on you saying EXP nerf - I believe that's not the case? May be I am wrong and didn't read the patch note but I have just leveled my weaving from lv35 to lv50 in 2 days, using around 40ish leve allowance.

I completely relied on HQ items from the market and trade in using only HQ items. That got me to lv50 extremely quick. I calcualated to have spent 100k gil to reach from lv35 to 50, roughly 3.5 HQ items per level, on leve quests.

Today, I have spent 30k gil to get my culinarian from lv18 to 37. Around 30ish leve quests.

You're still using the multiple turn in leves I assume? How does the exp compare to how it was before 2.1 for HQ turn ins?

Well, let me give you an example. The leve for Costa Del Sol was around 15k before 2.1. Now, it is 30k.

I only use the triple turn-in if I can find them on the market and/or there are materials on the market for me to craft them. But you can assume I leveled most of my crafting without the triple turn-ins.

So I suspect you might find greater success if you opt for triple turn-ins. (e.g. Costa Del Sol - Triple Turn-ins - one leve = 13k exp; HQ items = 26k exp; x3 =78k exp per leve allowance; 2 leve = +1 level.)

The reason I did not use triple turn-ins mostly because it is quite time consuming to gather mats/buy mats/ unavailability etc. Even then, normal leve gives 60-65k exp for HQ items, you are not missing out that much compare to mutiple turn in.

So there really isn't much difference between the rewards for single & multiple turn ins anymore I suppose.

There's a thread discussing about the exp reward vs time spent for triple turn in vs single turn in leves somewhere on this board too. My question here is directed at those who have leves accumulated, but have no crafting classes to level. I realise I have 4 more to level, but not feeling like doing them now, so I'm looking at the best methods of utilising leves as a potential gil fountain.

Well... that really depends on a lot of things. A typical leve gives 140-200gil, that is not a lot but usually it is enough to compensate for the materials you bought.

So, essetially - buy materials --> trade in --> get back the gil --> repeat.

You should notice that your cash bag would be the same size before and after you done your leve, albeit different in terms of exp you gained :P

But if you got some really cheap mat, something that you can get for 1gil from market board, and trade in for 140+gil, (lv30 leve), now that imo is a lucrative business. However, whether you, or we, can find one is another story to tell.

Given that you only got 99 leve allowance, 14,000 gil isn't really worth the effort (minus the capital.) unless you have 8 characters on the same server, every week, holding 99 leves and trading in, now that- is doable. Potential 100k gil a week, probably can buy yourself a house when 2.2 arrives :P

I would say you can pretty much ignore earning anything at high level leve quests, those are just bad returns. It's the low level, around lv30, that you should be considering (if you are really considering...)

Not much, no, only consider triple turn in if you just so happen to have the materials for it or saw it cheap on the market.

Actually, I have just done a little math on the figure you gave me:

1620*49=79380 each week. (you get 7 leve allowance per day, 7 days a week = 49 leve accumulation)

    x8 characters = 635,040gil each week... wtf??!

Still doesn't sound like a lot for 8 characters does it xD

Also, you get 6 level allowances per day - 3 per 12 hours I believe

I'm using my leve's to so level up my two alts. My BLM and WtM only for stoneskin. Me being a tank make me kind of nervous to run dungeons so I'll ride it out as much as I can. BLM is fun though I'll run that.

As far as Gil making I don't know, I figured leve was always not a good source of income making.

    Not really, no XD

But hey, that's because there so much captial involved. If you reduced that to say... 1k gil materials, you could easier get that figure to 1 million gil. But good luck finding a leve and cheap mat for that! XD
