Can we have a "Need As" option?

It would be nice if SE would implement a "Need As" option that would allow you to be able to select the class you would like to need for prior to entering an instance.

Example: I am a Pally that selected my "Need As" class to be WHM. Then I can click need on only WHM gear for the instance.

Any thoughts or critiques you can come up with?

I was thinking this would work well as a party finder option for farming groups.

I think the point is to prevent us from farming newer jobs with our already well equipped jobs.
For example, you could have an ilv90 Whm and farm Coil stuff as Whm for your freshly lv 50 green stuff dragoon. That would be somehow wrong.
If you want the item, you have to be able to beat the fight with the job needing the item.

Thats just a bad idea all around. If you want loot for that class, you play as that class. More motivation to play anything other than dps

Actually, I think it would be great if you could do this ONLY if you're on a tank or healer job. That way you can tank/heal and still be able to roll Need for DPS gear. This would give people another reason to tank/heal and decrease queue times.

Edited to add: I would actually rather see some other loot options being added, such as roll/pass (greed only) and master looter.

I agree. I'm forever stuck on tank on anything I do. Would be nice to be able to select a job I can need on before I enter

Dear god no. All i see happening is people queuing as tank or healer for fast queues, and taking the gear of dps who have to wait very long. This is what "greed" is for. You "need" the gear? Queue as that class. Simple as that.

Considering PFs I see are always in need of tanks or heals and all the L's I'm in and FC need tanks and heals not DPS it seems fair to me that the healers and tanks would have that option. It would also cut down que times as well.

It would definitely cut down on queue time. It will also force DD players to queue more runs because the loot that they originally have first grabs, is now also NEED-rolled by tanks and healers.

I am against this suggestion.

I'm also against that option for the same reasons already laid out by other posters. If you want to grab <class x> gear while playing on <class y> then go find yourself a farm group and tell them beforehand that you are in for said loot. If the group is fine with that, you're gonna roll greed against any other player of <class x> who also only rolls greed and all the other players just pass.
