That's really the only thing i miss from 1.0, granted, i gave up before people say it started getting good, i just couldn't handle the controls, menu system, and it dragged my computer down, but there did seem to be more detail on characters. I noticed that right away when i started 2.0.
This is a slideshow I put together a while ago featuring some fun moments of my 1.0 experience.

Here's a couple I found with a few of my old characters. The only thing I really miss from 1.0 is the size of the zones and the danger associated with them.

Coerthas before they turned it into crap.
Rivenroad.
Thornmarch
Materia melding.
Abandoned armourer guild in Falcon's Nest.
The legendary goobbue wall of Ul'dah.
Equipment menu. Item stats that made sense (i.e. not every piece of gear had VIT as its main stat).

I thought this thread would be a good idea, but now, looking at all the gorgeous Coerthas scenery people post... I miss that vast, awesome zone so much it hurts. T.T
I never understood this infatuation with the old Coerthas.
It was vast...and empty.
You stand around and go "Oooo, ahhh" and then the novelty wears off and you're left with...what exactly?
I'll be honest the graphics engine for FFXIV 1.0 is so much better than 2.0s...
I really, really miss the visuals of 1.0. Needed mad optimization, a fixed sky and way less bloom, but it's still more appealing than ARR's I feel.
DX11 is not the savior people might hope for.
