2 button MNK macro?

Being ignorant and not using the macro no one can stop you for that. As said you cannot do Step 2 and 3 without the perquisite form, hence why Step 2 and 3 are made into a macro. You still have to manually do Dragon Kick, Bootshine and do your positions. Pressing all your keys is good and all but this macro accounts for zero delay in between skill and more time for other thoughts.

While I agree with them that some macros are really ridiculous and make it obvious why so many monks perform poorly I also agree with you about their ignorance towards the actual useful macros.
Monks are one of the few jobs that can actually use macros without totally screwing up their combos because of our stances without any DPS loss.

Thought is easy as you have atleast 2 seconds to choose between two skills in most cases.

Forgive me if im wrong but, I thought any macro wasnt 100% accurate when it comes to skill speed, that no matter what you do in a macro some delay off the exact speed is always inevitable? (macros cant account for exact milliseconds and only works at certain milestones.)

And tbh... monk does not require much thought, its all reactions and muscle memory tbh + set learned patterns.

Perhaps someone can clarify? I dont really see a benefit to using these macros but I guess if the negative I think exists does not exist then it really does not matter.

Perhaps it does not since you are just spamming one button twice instead of using two buttons once, though I really do fail to see how this could be useful. I use qer and 123 for my main two combos and after some play time its 99% muscle memory so....

The GCD in this game is so damn long you really dont need any extra help.

Macros will always yield sub-optimal results. Do yourself a favor, and learn to play without them.

Depend on wich macro.
The one i've listed earlier is great for when your skillbar (like mine) is full and your finger can hardly reach all the skills.
The one i've saw for Fist of Fire/Earth looks good too, but i've set all the Fist of **** into F1/2/3 so it doesn't matter for me.

All monk's abilities are usefull. If you don't use macro, either you are playing with a mouse/keyboard with more buttons that the majority have.
Some people that don't use macro can also be more bad that thoses that use them, i bet a lot of Monk never switch to Fist of Earth to handle Big/2H damages.

A macro to use 2 skills for let's say a BLM is like this

/ac Fire <t>
/wait 2 (2.5 is considered as 2, no decimals)
/ac Fire <t>

This macro has no loss in speed since second fire will be queued 0.5 sec before the actual cast the same as pressing the button

If i want to cast 3 spells with BLM the macro must be like this

/ac Fire <t>
/wait 2
/ac Fire <t>
/wait 3
/ac Fire <t>

Last fire will lose dps for being late

The MNK can use different type of macro tanks to you not be able to use a command

/ac "snap punch"
/ac "twin snakes"

This one will nearly istantly activate both skills. If first one can start the second one will give you error. If the first can't be used for wrong stance it will activate the second one

This type of macro bear no delay since you can push the button 0.5 sec before the GCD is refreshed and the skill will be used as soon as possible

Any chance that you could share your xhotbar set ups? I'm on PS3 and have had to map some of my weaponskills to D-Pad buttons which I hate. I switched to MNK for my Coil team and am still optimizing.

On a Pad, you can reach every button.
On a keyboard, i can hardly reach 6,7,8,9,10,11,12...
So i'm using instead, Ctrl / Alt + A,E,R,1,2,3,4,5 and F1,F2,F3 and ²
So we are trying our best without macro, but why not using them when it's helpfull and not really brainless ?

stop using lame maccro and play the game like a man.....how hard it is to press 2-3 keys instead of 1 but be able to use any skill,anytime, depending of the situation and not end up with shity dps because your screwing ur rotation(not optimised) with stupid maccro?
