I took a little break from the grind and decided to set out and collect a Yda outfit. I'm getting close, I think, but there is one thing that I can't seem to get my hands on; a pair of her gloves or at least something close.

If anyone has any feed-back on where I can get a pair of these, please let me know below. Most gloves seem to go over the sleaves, rather than under them.

From what I can gather, her gloves are the Asuran Armlets, which were a special bonus 1.0 players could get by registering a first-run copy of FFXIII on Square Enix's Members' site (doing so would then be sent the redemption code for the armlets). Unfortunately this only worked for the US version - it was never advertised for the European version of the game, so we kind of missed out on that. In any event, they're unattainable now so unless you were lucky enough to have gained them in 1.0 you won't be able to I'm sorry to say.

Still, good job pulling off her outfit! Incidentally there was one story scene in 1.0 which actually showed her without her hat/mask and this her full face and hair. Her hairstyle was shown to be a standard midlander hyur female hairstyle (short wavy hair with a hairband), much like Minfilia's hairstyle was as well in 1.0.

I have a feeling that they will have a scene with Yda revealing to the player what she looks like under the helmet in A Realm Reborn at some point, I can't be the only one that's dying to know what she looks like lol

This pic also basically confirms her armlets are Asuran Armlets by the way, at least, in 1.0 they are.

Have you guys seen the Asuran Armguards? Heck, have you even looked at the little icon? I mean, obviously you have, since you're trying to match the two, but ...really? The Asuran Armguards are black with white plates over the forearms (a.k.a. vambraces). Those are definitely not that. However, they do have the little golden thing on them that only the Asuran Armguards have. I should think the little golden accessory is far less important to replicate than the actual color of the gloves at large. Similar to the moon on her hat, and the extra symbols on her shirt, I think the OP is already aware that there is no perfect match, so putting the golden accessory aside...

I think the closest you're going to get is one of the Fingerless X Gloves that don't have a vambrace on them and dye 'em dark brown. It looks like the only Fingerless Gloves without a vambrace are the Leather, Hard Leather, Goatskin, and Toadskin ones. I'd start with either the Goatskin or Hard Leather ones, since I'm not sure if the little band around the forearm is dyed, and Toadskin is... splotchy.

Thanks for the feed-back. It's a real shame about the Asuran Armlets, as I can't get my hands on a pair, like you said.

The problem with the Fingerless Gloves Raldo is that they tuck the shirt sleaves in under them; unlike the ones she wears. There are some gloves that are placed under the shirt sleaves, though they're too unsightly and not even a close match. I'm starting to think that they are gloves unique to Yda; much like her shirt, turban and boots, which are all recolours of the ones I have with slightly different features, such as the embroidery.

Though I cannot get an exact match on all of her gear (other than the hempen shorts, which are identical) I was at least hoping to get a model match. What's funny is that our height and skin colours are oddly the same, so that works out. I have to accept that I'll never have her neck tattoo or be able to wear fists at the same time as these boots (as I'm currently playing Warrior for this look)

If I had to guess, I'd say that's probably yet another Yda-specific thing. As you can see in the screenshot provided from 1.0, her shirt used to tuck in underneath. You could try a pair of felt halfgloves (or any type of halfgloves; velveteen, linen, etc.) dyed dark brown. That'll get you the fingerless look, without the shirt tucking, but you'll be showing skin between the gloves and the shirt. That's going to be a toss-up of whatever looks better to you.

Thanks Fire! I didn't manage to find the right gloves.. and I ended up spending a small fortune testing out many different pairs. Haha. I'm happy with the results regardless though; I now have a good AFK set to use while I'm checking the Market Board in Gridania! Thanks everyone.

I commend your attempt at replicating Yda and you came really close. Unfortunately, it is impossible at the moment because of her unique attire. As Raldo pointed out, her gloves are not Asuran Armguards. These are:



Now let's take a closer look at Yda.




Pretty much, everything but the pantalettes and the greaves are unique to Yda. Her shirt has Sharlayan symbols, the gloves and shirt have a skin/leather texture I've only seen on NPCs. Perhaps it's drakeskin, who knows.

Again, even though you're unable to make an exact replica, you did a superb job with what we have available to us.
