Reporting cheaters?

Actually, in other games they ban you for exploiting things for gain against other players before they can patch it: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2009/1...t-none-banned/

Do you think if the exploit in that situation was simply pressing one button on the controller, with no other preparation for the exploit, that they would still ban people in that situation? They would probably have hundreds of thousands of people banned if not more if that was the case.
