Strange pet actions on bahamuts coil

Class/level: scholar (arcanist) level 50
Party: Full Party (8 members)
In-game time: I'm not sure.
Area: Binding Coil of Bahamut, turn 1, just before entering Cademus lair

Steps:
1. I summon my scholar pet Eos, if not already summoned.
2. I approach the entrance.
3. I stop while my party discusses tactics.
4. My scholar pet, Eos, flies away towards the start without giving it any commands.
5. After a far distance, Eos magically appears next to me.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5, until commanded to "heel" or "away"
