I disagree strongly with this statement.

Each dungeons level range introduces a new skill and trait to your class/Job. Starting with your very first skills, by doing all the dungeons in order, fitting new skills into your existing rotations eventually builds you out into a full endgame rotation.

Granted, some people just don't understand the mechanics of their class (BLMs spamming Fire 3, Monks nuking from the back only, never flanking), but the leveling 'curve' and the dungeons together, present learning environments to place new skills into a workable rotation on mobs that last for more than a couple of hits. A Dragoon will never learn a proper rotation without ever setting foot in a dungeon, it only takes two Full Thrust combos to kill most anything in your level range. Same goes for Monks and Black Mages.
Dungeons provide an excellent environment for learning your class, and how to make the best of your skills in a party.

Sadly the duty roulette never makes you play a class above level 18 so this is all moot.

And FATEs bred nothing but bad players, good riddance IMO. Yes I know there are still plenty of terrible players at high level, but it's getting better.
Fates didn't make bad players, that's just silly. Idiots made bad players, and still do. Doesn't take a genius to know that if your tank is @ 25% health, cast a cure, not more stone II's. Or if your healer has pulled hate to try some kind of enmity tool to get it off the life of the party? Sure fates are pretty mindless and don't take much thought, but if you're on PLD and don't know you're a tank, there are bigger issues than easy exp. Even if they were new to MMO's, just look @ how others play classes. That's how i learned on my first MMO FFXI.

CT Fates > Do they still exist?

I have an FC member who is a casual and is finally to the crystal tower point in the game. She needs to do the fates to get into the tower but no one else is doing them. I advised her that I would help out but i'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue...

Race to fate on chocos, spam abilities for 20 seconds, repeat. That's how you should level every job, they should have kept the old fates and let DoL and DoH join them too.

Since their difficulty is based on previous spawn, then either someone is doing them or you could easily take them down with 2 people + chocobos.

While fates were way too easy and mindless before, some of them feel overtuned now, like the scaling is off.

Due to fate scaling, it's just not worth the time to XP reward to do a fate now, which is stupid. I understand pushing people into dungeons, but who else isn't sick of seeing Satasha or Tam Tara now? It's the same principle, but people are now funneled into dungeons. Soon enough, people are going to be sick of them and bitching to change it in some way or another. "BUT BUT BUT YOU PLAY TO HAVE FUN AND YOU HAVE FUN BY TAKING THE FULL 15 MINUTES TO POTENTIALLY BEAT THE FATE CAUSE OF SCALING LOLOL URBAD!! LOLOL!!" Just no. I enjoy difficulty, but right now fates can't be soloed in the time allotted. Is this the intended plan? For people to skip fates? Sure as hell seems like it as I just blow by them now, and I've seen quite a few people doing the same. Fates are going the way of Rifts in RIFT, an annoyance that isn't worth the time or reward.

The problem is that they overtuned the Fates. It's almost impossible to kill the Couerl King now for example. The Rogue fortress thing atop Quarrymill is now always occupied by enemies, and it goes the full 30 min fate without it going anywhere. I saw Cancer chilling in costa the other day, with not a soul daring to even try. I haven't seen how Dragonhead is doing, but I cant imagine it being any better.

While I hated FATE grinding, it was nice when you only needed like 5% for your next level and didn't want to do Tam Tara for the 11th time. Now that's no longer an option. I've pretty much had to resort to battle leves to get that last % off.

What a mechanics The last fight determines the amount of HP and other things? LOL. How about adjusting the fight itself? If there are 2 dozen of people around the FATE area, make it harder. If there are only 3 peeps fighting, make it easier. But I bet this would cause "too much load on the server" which seems to be the knockout argument for a lot of things that would make sense.
