    Paladin Attribute Points

Just theorycrafting with my pally. I was wondering how many points do you allocate in strength, dexterity and vitality. I read the description for all the stats for pally and all are useful for tanking.

How do the stats for dexterity measure up in practice? Should I not put extra points into DEX and go for strength? Pallies already get the passive vitality buff, I was thinking I could rely on that buff and get some extra points into strength.

I want to increase my mitigation so I am hit less and I would like to be able to use my strength to help keep aggro.

Most Endgame PLD will go VIT for HP and regen.
STR Help with the amount you parry and a bit more damage.
DEX help with the chance of parry and block??(need confirmation).

However going STR and DEX mean you will have to rely on ramdonmize of block and parry which is not that reliable. (most improtantly, Block and parry DO NOT work against Magic base damage.)

I go full VIT on my Pally, never have problem with aggro.
If you not sure where to put your point in, I recomemnd put it all to VIT (you can never go wrong with it) then you can use Malee DPS accessory if you want more STR or BRD if you want more DEX.
Remember, swapping ring, necklace is a LOT easier and more convenient than keep resetting you stat.

I dont know if you doin Turn 4 -5 or Xm primal yet but it really useful to have as much as HP you can. I lose count on how many time I survive with HP less than 50.
for T5 boss, PLD need at least 6.3 -6.4k + Defendsive CD to avoid 1 shot death sentence.

I went with 20 VIT, 10 STR on my Paladin. It makes you viable to MT and OT in any situation, and seeing as a Paladin is a CD tank rather than a HP tank, it doesnt make THAT much of a difference other than that you might want to have slightly better gear than a full VIT pally.

So the 10 STR more, can you point out what it does exactly so the OP can decide whether to sacrifice 10 VIT or not? I would like to know your reasoning too.

Another thing: "any situation", have you done Coil/Primal Ex? Would love to know how you fare!

Dex is not worth getting over any other defensive stat. In terms of allocation, always go full VIT at endgame. Full STR is fine for leveling. Endgame, if you want maximum mitigation and some damage bonus, go with ilvl70 melded accessories instead of ilvl90; you'll lose out on 25 VIT (max) and gain 45 STR and 45 DEX -- a much better tradeoff than 30 VIT for 30 STR.

    End of thread.

Seriously though, for MTing or OTing it doesn't matter: you should only be stacking Vit as a PLD now. If you ever want to swap out a little VIT for some STR/DEX (PLDs generate so much enmity these days that this will ONLY affect your block/parry mitigation) then do it via gear. Namely, by swapping i90 Fending Accessories for i70 Gryphonskin accessories as Gamemako points out above.

Wholeheartedly agree with the above statements. 30points to VIT and then change around your accessories as desired based on content.

Exactly, that's why I (sarcastically) ask Aresaka to elaborate. A quick look at her character showed no signs of endgame content. Yet her statement is "any situation" and "CD tank"..

    The number of misleading threads...
